Still struggling with the knee, it has really decided it doesn't want to play nicely! Sat and did the jigsaw for a bit this morning after putting some casserole beef in the slow cooker with the intention of making a pie later.Late morning I decided to try and walk down to the front and catch the bus to the south bay. I figured that just sitting is likely to cause the knee to seize up, so may as well see if I can walk a bit.Fairly quiet at the north bay, it wasn't cold out but a bit misty and overcast.
When I got to the south bay the beach wasn't too busy but the shops and arcades were absolutely heaving! Nice to get the castle in shot from both directions.

I played on the slot machines for a while, didn't win any prizes but got tickets which I will save until Isobel visits. I walked all the way along the south bay, I really wanted to have a sit down and a cuppa but everywhere was packed. I eventually managed to find a space on a bench to wait for the bus back took this from the bus, was moving quite fast too, it was brightening up by then.
Had a cup of tea at a cafe our end and really had the urge to walk on the beach and get my feet wet! I used to regularly go on the beach the first year we were here, circumstances have curtailed that somewhat. The tide was out but the beach was quiet and nice and smooth. Took these pictures while actually paddling for a few minutes!

The walk back up the hill home was painful to watch, if I had been going any slower I would have stopped and gone backwards! Sat with my feet up for a while this afternoon and made a pretty tasty pie, didn't even have to play patching the pastry together as it rolled out okay today!
Little Boy Blue later, it was sad last week but interesting. One sky shot to finish.

  1. Looks like quite a misty start from your pics, so I'm surprised the bay was so busy. I suppose any bank holiday draws the punters in to play the arcades and eat fish and chips by the sea :-) It's nice to have the quieter bay the other end so you can retreat there for a peaceful cuppa once you've had enough. Think paddling in a freezing cold North Sea is pushing it a bit though. Definitely not my idea of fun :-) I'm not surprised you were so slow getting home, your feet were probably frozen solid! Seriously though, hope the getting around gets easier soon.

  2. I really must get onto the beach more often, it is lovely, even if you do end up with sand between your toes! The fish and chips places were doing a roaring trade, and all the arcades as I came by were packed. A very busy bank holiday, good that Scarborough can still draw them in!

  3. Your doing pretty well by the sounds of it. Like Mike putting my feet in freezing cold water sounds too much like a punishment. Yes it great these seaside places still draw the young families in, they really need the trade. The sea looks very uninviting.
Glad you found somewhere for tea, no cake?. Feeling a bit better myself but won't swim this week. Xx
