I am going to make up for the lack of pictures yesterday as I have had to be quite selective today and there will still be a lot! The sky last night to begin with, for a change.
This next one looked like a dogs head to me, with ears flapping in the wind, I know, about time I was locked up!
The the actual sunset!
I got the bag ready for swimming last night, as I think I really need to work on my stamina. As I left the house one of the oriental poppies had opened, the plant is full of bed this year and will be tremendous.
I decided to walk through the park to the pool this time and go up the very steep hill at the start of the glen, something I regretted when I was doing it! But before that an arty shot into the shrouded sun.
Makes it look quite eerie at the park I think. I got to the pool already worn out, I did manage twenty lengths today but should have stopped at eighteen because thought I was going to drown myself on the last two. Not so many years ago twenty would have been the least I would do. After the swim, only one shower was working, only three anyway, and finding a locker which actually locks is now the challenge of the day. I walked back down the steep hill on the way back, that is also a challenge as the knees really don't like it. I thought this cluster of leaves opening was attractive.
The water through the leaves looked lovely in the morning light.
I often see moorhens in the park, but usually going near then and/or getting the camera ready makes sure they go. This one was busy foraging on the grass and didn't make a hasty exit.
I had a cup of tea at the cafe in the park and just before that saw this swan.
When I got home I looked at the tamarix, it does have a few twigs blossoming and I just love how fine they are.
After catching my breath when I had climbed the stairs here I made a flask and a snack, sorted out some sketching stuff, and set off to walk along the cliff top. The council have planted up the bed on the cliff top with the little pompom daisies, very attractive.
I took the path right along so that I could cut through to the church. From there is the best place to try and capture a shot of the majority of the bay.
I thought I would do a sketch of the church today, I borrowed a chair as the church was open to visitors. It seem disrespectful to sit on a tomb, but the choice of places on a chair without getting it dirty were limited, so not the best view for me to try. I was going to get some colour onto it but it was actually pretty chilly sitting there so stopped and then had a cup of tea in the church.
I went through to the church car park and sat on the benches near Anne Bronte's grave to have my snack and coffee from the flask.
As I walked home I thought I would go up some steps that I have seen many times and wasn't sure if they were a public footpath. this was at the top, although it still climbed round the corner of a house.
Round the corner you were almost on a level with the castle.
And a picture of the bay from up higher.
I walked home slowly as I was actually feeling pretty tired. Not done anything worth reporting since except Tina and I have booked a coach trip to Scotland in September, which will be lovely I am sure.
Firstly, I saw a face in the picture before I read your comment about it being a dog. But I wasn't sure what it was a face of. I can see the flappy eared dog now though. Lots of other nice photos today. You definitely made up for not taking many yesterday. I like the one of the water viewed through the leaves in particular.
ReplyDeleteYou'll just get back into the swimming again and the pool will close, typical!
Lots of lovely places to visit and sketch where you are now. I hope it's as good wherever you end up next. But regardless, I know you'll find stuff.
It was good to get myself organised and head off out. Need to be doing that a bit more now.
ReplyDeleteIt is a great place to take photos and walk providing you can cope with the hills!!
