The gulls sounded a bit different this morning, then saw these two canoodling on the roof opposite.
Or maybe they were complaining to each other about the yappy dogs that live just up the road! The triffid begonia has opened even more and such a lovely flower!
Thought I had better try and do something with the scruffy lawn in the front garden. It is a real chore trying to get the push mower through the house, so a chance to see what I could do with the new shears that I got in Aldi last week! Saw this cute little beetle while I was getting the tools ready to take out the front.
Then, to see what can be done about the lawn. It is very uneven and grows in peculiar tufts, so even when I do use the push mower it doesn't do much of a job"

Okay, I accept that you might not think it is cute, but I do! The shears are pretty good and the lawn looks a little less scruffy now.
I got a tea light burner that I thought would be great for the fairy garden at the boot sale a couple of weeks back. Got around to taking it outside today. Just need to find some small plants that the slugs won't demolish and I can get on with it!
I was going to take a pack up down to the beach and had a stool and my puzzle book with me, but the ankle is extra painful today so only made it to this end of the park. It was nice sitting there under a shelter up high. The park was lively on this bright, warm day.

Have made sausage rolls and raisin scones this afternoon, not a good day to decide to bake, so hot and bothered for a while. Raisin scones, in case you are wondering, because a certain member of the household doesn't like sultanas but does like raisins!

  1. That's a nasty hole in that roof. A bit of rain and the wind in the wrong direction and the water will flood in. Wonder if they know about it?
Don't you ever have a day of rest? It doesn't matter how small that bit of lawn is, cutting it with shears is still a task. By the way, I like the tufty bit you've left :-) Good luck with finding plants the slugs don't eat! You should stand the whole thing in a tray of salt, that'd stop them in their tracks.
The park looks very nice, as usual. It's good that lots of people made use of the nice weather. I walked through our park today, and it was heaving with people. There was a dog show in progress, and lots of related stalls. Made a nice change.

  2. There was a place in the centre bit that didn't grow, that tufty bit is a curly grass that I bought when out with Tina to see if it would take. It has had flowers so has survived so far.
It is good to see lots of people in the parks, we are lucky to have them.
