Not a particularly colourful sunset yesterday but thought this shot was quite atmospheric.
I got the squares and half squares all cut out yesterday evening for the jazzy quilt, this morning I spent ages trying to decide on a lay out as it was a bit complicated!
I left the bed like that and made a flask and went off to catch the sea front bus to the Spa end. I took sketching stuff with me, although I really am not great at trying to capture the sea scapes, and the bay has so many buildings! I walked quite a way along, the knee was much better today and the ankle bearable.
Quite like this shot as the rock looks a bit like an angry man! I went along the front well beyond the clock cafe and found a little beach with lots of large rocks, so sat on one of them to do a sketch.
I had my coffee and apart from the breeze I had a very nice hour or so there. It was then I realised that I had forgotten to pack pain killers, so the walk back along the front wasn't quite so pleasant.
As I got to close to the actual Spa it was high tide, so very enjoyable to see the waves crashing in.
This afternoon I have started assembling the blocks for the quilt, but nearly driving myself insane (more so than usual that is) remembering how I wanted them to go once I had picked them up! Have had a couple of breaks away from it, but have half of the top assembled now!
May do a bit more but am finding it quite taxing...... Will probably settle for watching an Endeavour in a bit.

  1. Well the new quilt has a name now, the "jazzy" quilt. It looked good just laid out, but is looking even better now you've started to sew it together. I can see why it's driving you nuts though. Such a lot of different materials and sizes. Wouldn't be so much fun if it were easy though!
You're right, it does look like an angry man. Again, I saw it straight away. I sometimes can't spot them.
You are lucky having those two beautiful bays to play in! Almost worth a bit of pain to be able to sit on a rock and have a view like that. Good sketch too.

  2. Yes, lovely to be near the bays, haven't been visiting them so much recently, but intend to make the effort a bit more now.
I will do a plain backing and border for the jazzy quilt, it doesn't need any extra embellishment!

  3. Love the quilt layout, very colourful. The cat does not look very friendly, as you know I'm not a cat person. Your shots of the bay and crashing waves look great plus your sketch captures it well. Shame you forgot the painkillers but look on the bright side if it was hurting more before you left you would not have forgotten them, so that good. Xxx
