Mike set off really early and had a walk on the front and through the park before coming here at just after 8.30 am.  He caught the bus into town with me after breakfast, he got a return ticket, pretty reasonable price. He had a couple of cafes on his 'things to do in Scarborough' list, so we had a drink at Emma's on Huntriss Row. then we wanted to the cliff lift and went down to the south bay for a look. Nice weather and busy. I sat on a bench while Mike had a bit of a wander. There was a dredger working out in the bay, and holiday makers a plenty.
This baby seagull was happily sitting on the beach between two lots of holiday makers, without a care in the world it seems, loved the footprint pattern around him/her.
We came back up on the lift and then went and had lunch at Greensmith and Thackray, another cafe on the list! Had a really nice 'To share' platter and cups of tea in great teapots with loose leaf tea inside.
I bought a cd from a street artiste country singer, we listened to it a bit later and it is very good. We caught the bus home and came indoors for a little while before going off to the park for the Naval Warfare battle. An organist was entertaining the crown before it kicked off which was great, he played lots of popular film songs. Then the ships all came by, this was a warship with an enemy warship in the rear.
One of our ships was hit and out of the action!
The the air attacks began.
When the battle was won, by us of course, the ships and their operators came by to wave at the crowds and get their just applauding!

It didn't take long for them to get the park running normally and the swan boat was out on the lake!
I meant to say that when we got to town I got a new ankle support, it is tighter and I think it helped but am not totally convinced. Will see how it goes. We had fish and chips for tea, a must for visitors to Scarborough, and we may watch a film in a bit.

  1. It's been a great day. A fantastic start on the beach first thing in the morning with the sun shining bright. It would be nice if every say started the same. The naval battle is something I've wanted to catch for a while now, and it was worth the wait. The commentator was perfect for the job and gave us all a laugh a few times. The bus trip, the food and the whole day in general was really good, Nd rounded off this evening with fish and chips and a film. Perfect!

  2. Yes, pretty good weather and a very enjoyable day. 'Taken' the film to end the day was really good if a little far fetched!!
