This morning was wet so I waited for a while before going out, I did want to have a ride on the bike but didn't want to get drowned in the process! Sandy from the ceramic studio sent me a message to ask if I wanted to have lunch with her, a treat for me for getting all the plates ready for painting last week. I had checked maps again as I realised that when I walk to town I don't have to worry about one way streets but obviously would need to plan my route when going through town on the bike. I wanted to avoid the really main roads and find the old Filey road. I set off and stopped to take a picture looking back at the clock tower.
The hill was shrouded in mist when I passed the end of the road.
Looking back towards the distant castle.
I only had to go on the main road just by the college for a little while and then turned left onto the old Filey road which was relatively quiet, although not that wide and I have to say the vans and buses were rather close to me as they sped by! Coming back to the large roundabout at the main road later was a much trickier challenge, one I will have to have a good think about before I take that route again. I went the Osgodby and then arrived at Cayton Bay. A couple of pics, complete with bike, to prove it!
Looking the other way really did seem like I was in the wilds, it was grey and a bit drizzly.
When I got home I was tired but pleased with the trip. About 9 miles in total but some assisted and some free wheeling so not that much Jan powered!! I have started on some different bazaar items, if they are a success I will post pictures tomorrow. Tina had been out this afternoon to a stately home near Driifield with the ladies that attend Not Home Alone. She said it was lovely place and bought me back a couple of very nice presents.
The peacocks tail is made of actual peacock feathers.
A good trip out, and some totally different scenery and views. Particularly like the lone bird in the mist above the road, and a totally different view of the castle. Bluejay is definitely going to pay for itself :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, will have some fun in the better weather, but getting used to it now.
DeleteGo steady on that bike, the traffics comes in very fast, I hate Brian riding on the roads these days for that reason and he has cycled as you know for many years. Love the gifts Tina bought you quite different. The weather has been very mild here and dry. Roll on Spring. Much better for cycling. Xx
ReplyDeleteYes, just going to try and get out on reasonable days, dry at the moment so will cycle into town and lock it up and leave it for the first time! xxx
