Another grey and murky day and some really heavy, windblown rain as well. I had washing to do and when down in the kitchen decided it was time to decorate the cakes I make as presents. I have made the decorations a couple of days ago. I hunted out the wooden turntable Mike made me a few years ago as I thought I would do some piping this time. I still have to decide how I am going to put the berries on the holly but otherwise they are good to go!
I set about making minestrone soup for lunch and Tina was in early so we had the end result together. There is more so another lunch ready! It was quite a bit of preparation but a tasty result. I was going to go for a walk as it had brightened up this afternoon but Tina noticed that they had the last showing of 'The lady in the van' at the little local cinema. Seemed a bit strange going on my own but I am glad I did. Wasn't as funny as the trailer but was funny and sad in parts and I enjoyed it. I have a wooden tree ornament that has lights in, had it for about three years now, but really like it. Have it on the windowsill along with the little train and three little fairy mice bought from the last two church bazaars.
The new cooker is going to arrive at some point tomorrow, I am at a craft group in the afternoon so looks like Friday will be trying it out day!!
The cakes look really good. All that work, and then they'll get eaten! :-)
ReplyDeleteI thought it was snowing behind those decorations, then I realised it was the way the light was reflecting in your net curtain. Must sort out my wooden tree and get some batteries in it, maybe I won't feel such a Christmas grinch then! Humbug!
Yes, just get eaten but usually well received. Yes, get that tree out, they are lovely and we don't want any of that humbug stuff!!
ReplyDeleteThe wooden tree ornaments is striking, good luck with the cooker.
ReplyDeleteAdrian is out of hospital, very sore but will soon recover, at least he will be on the mend. Received a lovely card made by Isobel. Xx
Glad to hear Adrian is home, younger than us so as you say, will soon recover. Give him my love. xxx
