This morning Darren took me to the station where I caught the train to Bempton. Anya met me there and we went back to their holiday home. after a while we went off to Sewerby Hall and gardens. Very windy today, it had be ferocious again in the night. Sewerby is an Edwardian house and has had some recent refurbishment. A very attractive house as you approach and a view of the sea from the grounds.
Isobel was fighting the wind so as not to get blown away!
The plant in this picture shows just what the wind was like!
There was a walkway with a row of monkey puzzle trees either side. Even huge ones at the end, I have never seen any so big.
We stopped by a pillar and took pics (for a change).
Went by this incredible tree sculpture.
Then to the walled garden, lots of different areas to explore, would be wonderful to go there on a bright Spring day or even a wind free winter one!

Checking out the sundial.

Lovely Anya by a lovely bush.
This chatty parrot was 'talking' to Isobel, they had quite a conversation going!
There was a small zoo in the grounds but just enough exhibits for the little ones.

There was a play park in the grounds as well.

We did go and have a look round the house, very interesting and in keeping with the period. No photography allowed except in the dressing up area. Isobel didn't want to wear the dresses, did try a hat!
Then a 'must you!' moment!
They dropped me off at the station to catch the train back to Scarborough, just a single platform station and it had been raining a while by then. There was a shelter though. The train approached on time.
I got some Christmas wrapping from Smith's for next year and then made my way home. A bit parcel waiting for me, beautiful flowers from Rachel and family.

  1. Wow, that's a lot of pictures today! I can see why though, it looks like a good day was had by all, despite the wind. Definitely a place I'm going to add to my list. Nice surprise to come home to too.
Love the "must you" moment :-)
