Home now so can put some of the poppy photos on the blog. We were going to wait for the shuttle bus to get to the boat house, but after a while decided to walk down, very muddy and Tina's jeans were caked as were our shoes. Walking along from the boathouse when we got there you could see the poppies in the distance.
As we walked along the red became more obvious, it was lovely seeing them from such a way back.
Almost there.....
Once on the bridge even the structure and the reflections were lovely.
I was surprised how emotional the display made me feel, so pleased that Tina said she would take me there.
Then a view through the poppies. I took a lot of photos so had a job deciding which ones to post.
Now I will put a few more pictures from the trip to the gallery. This was the view from the gallery.
This dragonfly was pretty large hanging from the ceiling in one of the galleries.
This drawing by Gertrude Hermes who did the lino cuts really appealed to me, my kind of sketches (I wish!)
Outside this building had been covered with a fabric 'pretend house' outside, very unusual.
We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and had dinner and breakfast there. This morning we went to Meadowhall in Sheffield, somewhere I have never been before. We went to quite a few shops, but I was feeling pretty tired after out day yesterday. The decorations were lovely in there.
We had a good journey home despite one spell of really awful weather, but Tina can cope with anything!

  1. Wow, lots of great pictures tonight!
I can see why you liked the visit to the poppies, they look fantastic, wished I'd have seen them in person, but the pictures show them off nicely. Worth a bit of mud I think.
I could see the dragonfly hanging in your lounge, bit large though maybe :-) The fabric house is weird, not my sort of thing at all, bit like the unmade bed, pile of bricks etc, not what I consider to be art, not that I know much about the subject!
All in all, it looks like a very successful trip.

    1. Definitely worth getting muddy and at least we didn't fall and sit in it, although we slipped a couple of times and almost went!
