I bought a magazine last week that had a free kit to make a couple of felt cone decorations, I decided it was time to make them up as they would look nice on my little tree. The pack looked fiddly, you had to assemble them onto cocktail sticks!
After finishing one I almost gave up on the idea of the second, but thought I should just get on and do it. The results are quite cute I think.
This morning I had thought of cycling to town but Tina said it was quite icy today so she gave Darren and me a lift as far as the ceramic studio. He went off to the gym and as it was too early for the shops to be open I walked up to the south bay. Took this picture of the Victoria statue in front of the bay.
A bit further round the sun was bright and the steam was rising off the sea. Had to hide behind a building to take the picture as I was facing the sun!
I walked up Bar Street which was deserted, which was good as it meant I could take a couple of photos of window displays. This rag tree was different, I think it had a wooden  frame underneath.
Another shop had several little wooden models that are obviously able to be animated. I will just put one on the post of the piano player.
I came home and as Tina was going out for lunch cooked one of the Hello Fresh recipes she had for Darren and I, this one was very tasty although I left some ingredients out. I took a walk down to the hut for a while this afternoon. \It had started to drizzle, but wasn't too cold. There was steam rising off the north bay as well.
I did a very quick sketch whilst sitting in the hut, thought it was time to get the eye back in!!

  1. The cones were definitely worth the effort, they'll look good on the tree. There can't be much room on there for anything else now.
The rag Christmas tree reminds me of the rag rugs my mum used to make in "Ye Olden Days". :) Different though, and doesn't need any other decoration on it.
Judging by the drawing, you're still reading the Lee Childs books, and drinking nice creamy chocolate at the hut!
I really like the picture you took into the sun. The fence and the seats fit perfectly.

  2. The cones look good on the tree and as they have some glitter they add a bit of sparkle. The rag tree is sort of a move on from the rag wreaths, quite attractive. Yes, about half way through the book now, not enjoying it quite as much as the first one. and yes, still have hot chocolate!

  3. Love the little wooden figure, your sketch is nice. How much longer have you got use of the hut?
