Rainy and grey today, but as the family weren't coming until the afternoon I put the turkey crown in to cook and decided to go down to the front. I was amazed that I had to paddle through puddles to get to the front at all, in fact I was ankle deep in water and the shoes and socks were not too happy!! By the shops.
And looking out from the shops.
A misty view.
I went to the hut, took off the shoes and socks and had a drink of hot chocolate. This was on the way back.
Making my way towards the park.
Watch out, bus passing!!
Time to cross the road, that was fun!
This was the path home, at one point I was wading through water up to mid calf, nearly slipped on the mud but managed to stay upright!
Whoops, just as well I was carrying the shoes and socks!!
The lake in the park had burst it's bank and the path had become a lake!
When I got home I shouted out for Tina to get me a towel and some trousers! Anya and family arrived about 2.20 pm and I managed to get dinner for 3.30pm. Turned out really well and the turkey was very moist and tasty. They have gone off now to get settled in their holiday accommodation, they will have a quiet morning and come over in the afternoon. We did open presents and I took a couple of pictures, will check them out and post a couple tomorrow.
Well an unusual walk to say the least. You can see why lots of people are suffering up north from flooding. At least with Scarborough being very uphill, the water is all down by the sea! You'll get chilblains walking about in all that though :-)
ReplyDeleteIt was a real surprise, hadn't realised that it had rained that hard in the night.
ReplyDeleteWow ! All that water. You took such a risk walking out in it. All those germs etc, you never know what's there. Those poor people with it in their houses in the Lake District
ReplyDeleteWe must count our blessings x
Yes, an interesting diversion for us, lots of people taking pics, but having that in your home must be horrendous. x
