I bought a multi flower hyacinth not long before I went away, watered it well, when I got home it had keeled over as it had got so tall! Smells lovely and I have tried to support the blooms a bit.
I have had a poinsettia that has decided to keep going for five years now, very leggy and permanently green! It now has the smallest tinge of red on a couple of leaves.
I had couple of short walks, called into see Sher at the plant shop and called in at the parish hall to have a chat with Jean.
Have done some reading, but haven’t felt the urge to keep busy today! I went to see Sarah and David for a while this afternoon.
I went out into the garden and freshened the bird baths. The hellebore is in full flower now, really quite impressive.
The flowerbed at the bottom of the back garden has some primulas opening and if you look closely quite a lot of snowdrops.
Took a picture of the church for a change.
I still wasn’t feeling great this evening and didn’t want to cook so went down to the fish and chip shop who do a special deal on a Wednesday.
Sitting in the rocking chair now, trapped by the cat!
Sorry to hear the leg still isn’t right. Hopefully another few days at home will do some good before you head back this way.
ReplyDeleteI like hyacinth plants. They smell so nice and it hits you when you walk into the lounge in the morning. A great start to the day. Shame it collapsed a bit, but it still looks ok at the minute. You’ve done well to keep the poinsettia going for so long. They never last for me. But that’s probably more down to me than the plant. Having green fingers isn’t a concept I’ve ever got my head around ๐
Sounds like you’ve kept occupied today. A bit of visiting and a bit of walking is enough for anyone. I’d happily spend my days doing that! You also add a fair bit of gardening to the mix, so I think you do plenty in a day. There are a lot of snowdrops in that bed. Considering how many bulbs you’ve dug out over the years they still keep poking their heads through. I do like to see them in large groups. There are quite a few in our park I noticed the other day.
I think a trip to the fish and chip shop is a great way to end the day, and so much easier than cooking yourself. Taste better you way too, and probably less steps to negotiate ๐
I have taken the foot of the pedal so to speak today, so hopefully the knee will be a little less painful tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThe scent of the hyacinth is really strong in here, Tina will be running a mile if she comes in!
