St Nicolas Horticultural Show

This morning I was up early, fed the birds and did the weekend shopping by eight o’clock. I also took my entries round to the parish hall for the horticultural show. Still entries to arrive but I did take a couple of photos.

That galleon on the left in the first picture got a first prize and it took about two years to complete. There was a photographic record of the progress as well. The other galleon got a third with Steve’s church getting the second.
Darren had to move the car as Tina was expecting people to park on the drive so he drove me to Sigglesthorne garden centre, got some bedding plants and two great hanging baskets. They were reduced so will save them for next spring, although they are said to be rot proof!
After lunch ai went across to the hall with Tina, took a couple more pictures and then took up my station in the church.
I did win a first with one of my greetings cards but otherwise just made up the numbers. There were some fantastic items on show. I didn’t take pictures of the beg and children’s entries in the church. I stayed and helped with the clearing up for a while. Had a struggle walking home as my legs really seized up. Luckily Darren was indoors and made me a cup of tea!
When I went out to put the food down for the foxes I liked the sky, took two photos and couldn’t decide so will post them both!

Resting the legs this evening as hopefully we will go to the boot sale in the morning.

  1. The show looks like it was a success for entries. Some good stuff in there. The model galleons are very good as is the church. Quite a good turn out all things considered. My favourite from the pics is that nice eagle canvas with the calligraphy on it!
Sorry to hear the legs are giving you so much grief again. Good job Darren came to the rescue with car trips and cuppas 😊 Hope you’re fit enough for booting tomorrow. You don’t want to miss any bargains, or sausage baps for that matter.
I can’t decide which of the two sky pics I like best either. I think maybe the one with the church included.

    1. The day did go well, an awful lot of work for the few folk who were organising it. More entries than last year, so pretty good whilst being in the throws of a pandemic.
The kegs are feeling a bit easier now so hopefully after a rest they will be good to go, well, as good to go as they ever are at the moment!
