No real warning of just what I would see when looking out of the windows this morning. you may imagine I was very snap happy so have tried to control myself with the ones I put on!
Had a cuppa with Tina looking out, which is when I caught the shot of Charlie, who, by the way slept on my bed all night, really not big enough for both of us, so we will see how that goes! Then I got some clothes on and had a walk round the garden so pics not through glass.
We needed cat food and some bits so walked down to the shop, bit slippy underfoot but not too bad. I cut through the car park and had a look in the park as well.
Apart from snow excitement it has been a busy day. Gas men here to connect the cooker, although they were here a long time it is still not fitted correctly because of the way the cupboards are designed. The Sky man was also here, so now I not only have internet but tv as well! I helped Tina move some stuff around and their rooms are beginning to take shape now.
Tina suggested a little drive out to look at the sea. Still snowing and bitterly cold, quite dramatic being there really, but we didn't hang about too long.
This evening the three of us have made sure all the floors in the kitchen, hall and utility room are clear as the new flooring is due to be laid tomorrow. I left Tina and Darren to move the dishwasher and washing machine though!
Charlie has had his first day here and seems quite relaxed and not pestering to go out. Blue has loved all the activity and rooms to explore.

Maybe now it should be hornseajan?
Well, almost a week since I did an entry, much chaos and working out where things will go but now getting settled into the house at Hornsea. I was on my own here up until yesterday but now we are all here and fighting out way through packing boxes!! the van when it arrived seemed small to me, but with that and a trailer the same sort of size out very large amount of belongings have arrived!
Tina drove me over that first day and I even managed a sky picture en route!
The kitchen had plenty of boxes to sort through that first night.
And Tina and I had to make a path to the mattress and then make a space for it so I had somewhere to sleep!!
I soon got sorting through boxes the next day, found all my squirrels and put them in place round the fire in the sitting room.
On Friday night the lights a were turned on in Hornsea, it is a really big deal, the street is closed and the town turns out in force, the shops all stay open, a really great atmosphere.
Saturday morning was frosty, the house looked pretty impressive on such a lovely day.
As I walked through the town it seems someone got a bit excited the night before - oops!
A nice surprise on Saturday evening as these lovely flowers turned up sent by Anya, such an attractive arrangement.
I wanted to buy a net for mu sitting room window as it is directly opposite shops, but no ready made nets in Hornsea so ended up buying voille and had to set to. Do you think I could find where I had put the cottons and pins? Created chaos when I thought I was winning, opening boxes and getting contents everywhere. But, found then and am pleased with the result.
I also bought some very nice tapestry material to cover the backs of the two bookcases I used to have on the landing in Scarborough. I wanted them on the landing again, but as it is such a lovely staircase and the back will be visible on the way up, I wanted to improve the look of them. One of the main reasons for them being there is to keep the spectacular fern away from unwanted attention from a certain little grey creature!
Darren was over with stuff both days at the weekend, and we got other jobs done like my blind, and some carpet down in the garage which is going to be Darren's new shed.
Another sky picture, can't see sunrises or sunsets from the house, and haven't been venturing out much as yet as there is plenty to keep me busy in the house for a while.
I had cleared most of the kitchen first time and yesterday it was filled up again. So this morning while Tina was finishing packing and cleaning at Scarborough I set to and got stuff into cupboards this end.
Blue has been in the house with me today, had to shut her away when the removal men were here. Charlie had gone walk about but turned up before Tina was heading back today, and he is curled up asleep on my bed as I type.
So lots done, and lots more to do, and the new adventure begins.

And breathe.....
This could well be my last post for a while.
Moving day has arrived, and let's just say it is what I expected but not what I had hoped for.
Looks like I will be moving out today, don't think there is internet at the other end, but I will have plenty to do and will catch up on news when I can

Silly season arrives!
Tina set off for Hull this morning and I left soon after to catch the bus. Called in to see Donna at the studio for half an hour, I had some bits for Amy and for the charity shop next door. After that I walked into town, called into The Royal to cancel my membership, I have already stopped the direct debit. I walked along Bar Street and was tempted to buy one of the signs on the bike.
I resisted though as I had silly plans for today already. Bought a headband at The Works and then made my way to the Brunswick Centre and that snowglobe!
Did get quite an amused audience, but it had to be done! Then, as it was silly half hour I bought some chocolate brussels!!
Back home I have been moving boxes and clearing the landing so that the guy cam move things more easily. The fern, my most precious plant it in the shower for now out of harms way!
Got a lovely text with a picture of Amy with one of the bits I gave her this evening, that was great to receive as I am feeling rather shattered right now. Darren and Tina's packing and some of my stuff is going from 8 am tomorrow.
I have been meaning to say that years ago I used to love Lou Lou Blue perfume. It went out of production, I could still get it in America for a while. Anyway, a week or so ago I decided to ask at the perfume store in town. The young lady said they have Lou Lou, it is called Cacharel now, but is in the same bottle and is actually Lou Lou Blue, or very similar, so I am a very happy bunny!

Tis the season to be silly!
Not a great deal to report today, Tina and I went into town, but other than that it has been more packing. Before we went out I thought I would collapse my lovely, solid oak computer desk that Mike made for me some time ago. It has been in the same position since I moved here and I had forgotten just how heavy it is. Trying to cover and tape it to be transported I managed to send a coffee table flying complete with a full cup of tea! In my time here, even going up and down stairs, I have never pitched over a drink, I wasn't best pleased, and Darren and Tina's carpet cleaner is in Hornsea! Anyway, it is now folded and secured and ready to go.
I did try to make a start on removing the blind but couldn't figure it out so left it when we went to town. Tina had a hair appointment and I had a list of bits to get, after spending quite a while in the bank answering endless questions to get some money out. I have left my debit card somewhere so cancelled in and ordered a new one on Saturday. As it happens, they were very quick and it was here when I got home.
I was SO tempted to be really silly (who me, who'd have thought it) because there was a huge snow globe in the Brunswick Centre that you could have your photograph taken it!
I am sure it will still be there if I get into town again. I also got a little wind up musical Christmas tree, but sillier still Tina got me three reindeer in a clothes shop, I need more silly knick-knacks but they are really cute.
When we got home I packed up Tina's precious items in her display cabinet, then I thought I would see if I could fathom the blind. I cracked it and that is now ready to go with the fittings and screws. I also cleared under the bed, some biggish items there, but I am making good headway now. Some of it will be on it's way to Hornsea on Thursday.

Fabulous screen and jardiniere
Tina and I set off about 10 am calling first at the auction house. We managed to get the jardiniere, the planter and the screen into the car to take with up to Hornsea. We had also put a few bags of stuff in to drop off as well. It was a cold day and we had a wet journey across and a nice puddle had appeared on the drive.
Builders were in and work was being done in the bathroom and the utility room. A fencing man met us there as at the moment the garden has panels missing and is not secure.
The table that Tina had collected from Mirfield will look good in her office.
Going across to the recycling bin and partially hidden by another shrub I made a fabulous discovery, a mahonia about to come into flower!
The carpet fitters arrived and were a long time and did a great job in the two bedrooms. The guest bedroom.
And mine, they both look a lot different now.
Now for the auction pieces, firstly the rather swish planter.
The back of the screen is quite plain.
But the main side and the detail are lovely. Here it is on the new carpet successfully masking the sink.
Last, but not least, the late 19th Century jardiniere, I need to clean it, but I really love it!
I cleaned some of the kitchen cupboards and Tina used their carpet cleaner to try and remove some of the stains from her office carpet.
We had a lovely lunch at a newly opened tea shop and had a good journey home. We stopped at the mere as the sky had been lovely. I took just this one photo and I think it is one of the best shots I have taken. didn't bother with several as I usually do.
We shopped at Lidl on the way home having had a pretty successful day I think. Also, the first stuff is going to be moved out on Thursday so it is about to become real!
