The plumber came quite early to see what was needed to sort the taps out in the bathroom, My shower has been getting extra use for a few days now. Tina was off today and she mentioned Spurn Point to me, she hadn't been there in a while and I have never been, so although it was quite a way we set off, calling at the shopping outlet at Hornsea on our way. Went in the wrong direction once which was handy as I got to take this row of interesting shops when we had turned round!
We did a bit of shopping at the outlet place and then had coffee in a lovely little place which had these great cupboards. If I ever have a big enough place I have a friend who can make me one!!
Then off to Withernsea  where we had fish and chips for lunch. This sign was interesting.

Tina thinks that these structures were the end of a pier once, they are quite impressive.
The view out was my first sea based wind farm of the day.
This tractor was hauling this boat in, which was interesting.
Then we set off to Spurn Point.
I had been having real trouble with my ankle for most of the day, started with shoes and support. Took the support off at the shopping outlet, and at Spurn, didn't do much walking and took the shoes and socks off. They then stayed off for the rest of the day! The views were nice, quite desolate.

I found somewhere to perch while Tina walked down to the water's edge. Great wind farm here!
We stopped a mile or so along the road on the way back and sat on a bench. Could see the lighthouse from there.

We passed Saltend where Darren works, got in touch with him and met in Hull to eat together. Then Darren went off in his van and Tina and I did shopping for food at the weekend in Hull before coming home. And no, I didn't put the shoes back on, went to the restaurant and shop bare foot! A good day and I was home in time for Strictly too, which was good.

  1. Sounds like a really nice day out. It was good of Tina to do all that driving on her day off, as it was quite a trek around. I've never heard of the place, but it looks nice. I love the wind farms, I know some people think they are ugly, but I think they actually enhance the view, and they serve a good purpose. The little castle buildings definitely look like the entrance to a pier.
Very hippy like going barefoot. It is nice to do though, but I'd end up standing on something knowing my luck! If it helps your ankle it's well worth trying it some more. Save a fortune on shoes too, but not soap :-)
I like the last photo. It's very simple, but split into thirds is the perfect ratio, and the glistening water is lovely.

  2. A very interesting day and a good place to visit. Will hopefully go again some time when I walk a bit further.

  3. Meant to comment on the drawers and forgot. They're lovely, I really like them and would definitely have a set myself if I had somewhere to put them.
