The yucca in the front garden is flowering, they are impressive and I like to see them.
Late morning Tina and I had a walk down Newbegin as she had spotted a dress she liked. They didn’t have that one in her size but she did find another one she liked. We had a coffee in The Lounge before coming home and then set off for a restaurant near the hospital. An enjoyable lunch and then off to the hospital. The consultant was very charming, asked me some questions and examined my knee. Said the options were to ‘live with it’ or have surgery. He then started to list the cons, it was seemingly endless and I did say ‘you are really selling this’, he said he needed to point out three risks. It was interesting that he said that the pain I now have from the left knee replacement is common and there is nothing they can do about it. He also said that four out of five are happy with the outcome, meaning 20% of people aren’t. Anyway, I said I would like to go ahead and then he dropped the bombshell. My bmi had to be 30 or below to be added to the list. I told him my height and weight and he said it was okay but a nurse would check. She made me an inch shorter and my weight was sure to be up so I convinced myself that I wouldn’t be added to the list. But in the end I made it by the skin of my teeth, phew! The waiting list is six to twelve months.
We went to Lidl on the way home and I went into to church for a while to keep Tina company while she did some printing.
Will finish with two pics of a baby robin.
Oh my, that’s a lot of ingredients that have to be transformed into cakes! Looks a formidable task when you see it laid out like that. A lot of labour to add to the equation, but the outcome is some really nice cakes. You really did make a rod for your own back the day you started baking them 😊
ReplyDeleteSounds like you got a really cheerful consultant….not! Good job you and Tina have a good sense of humour or you might have cried. The BMI bombshell is something you could have done without worrying about, but you came through it with flying colours and are now on the list. Knowing how lucky you’ve been in the past with early operations coming though, you’ll probably get a call next week saying they have a space for you. 🤞
The baby robin pics are gorgeous. My favourite is the fist one though. So cute.
An interesting day, and at least I made the list!
ReplyDeleteThe pile of ingredients is a little daunting!
Yes, the baby robin is very cute.
