Day trip to Peterborough, thank you Darren

We set before nine as Darren took the day off to drive me to Peterborough so I could see Margherita on her birthday. It was a wet journey down until we passed Stamford, the weather was good while we were in Peterborough.
We had lunch in the cafe in Central Park, a really lovely meal and we bought four pieces of chocolate cake to take into the care home, we knew Rose would be there too. They were ridiculously big pieces of cake but we did enjoy them. Margherita was surprised when we walked in but was really pleased and we had a good hour or so. Before we went in we looked at the aviaries and a pretty zebra finch came close when I tried to photograph it, really pleased with these, almost as good as the Bird Buddy!
We made our way to Anya’s to have a cup of tea with her, and of course Isobel was home as she has finished school for this year. I was able to bring my birthday presents home and a couple of bits Anya gave me today but will add pics of those tomorrow.
Darren enjoyed seeing the house and he met Aurora but she didn’t venture too near to us!
We were soon on our way, and the weather was nice to start with then we drove into what turned out to be quite an extreme weather journey home! I am tired now so will add pictures of the journey but say bye for now.

  1. That’s a long old day for you both. It’s was really good of Darren to agree to drive there and back in a day, and then have to suffer foul weather for his drive too. I bet he’s glad to be home and relaxing…..with his laptop 😊
I’m sure Margherita was really pleased to see you both. It would have been a big surprise for her. A big lump of chocolate cake is good too 😊
Nice you both got to see Anya and Isobel too. I assume Louis was still at work?
Thought there might be a couple of pics of the bridge on here this evening 😊
    Perhaps you’ll sleep well tonight.

  2. A rally good day despite the weather. Darren did so well as at some points the rain was bucketing down!
