Trip to the Humber Bridge

Today I caught the bus into Hull and then caught another one to the Humber Bridge Country Park.  I caught the bus at ten and Lesley was waiting at the stop so we had a good chat on the journey in. That journey was an hour and forty minutes rather than an hour and ten minutes as there were temporary traffic lights and we were in the traffic hardly moving for half an hour. So I didn’t catch the bus to the bridge until ten past twelve. It must be the best part of a mile to actually reach the bridge, then of course there are the steps up to it! I walked along the bridge until I was over the river before heading back.

Although my right knee was quite painful today I didn’t want to go to the park and not make my way down to the foreshore.

Loved this painting, then made my way back up to the bus stop.

I was lucky and a bus came along just after I got up to the stop,m not so lucky in Hull though as the bus was running very late and I had been standing for about twenty minutes and told it might be another twenty. I really can’t stand for that long so I went and got a drink nd decided to get the next one and hope it was on time. It was but the traffic was awful so half and hour after leaving we were still in Hull!
It was lovely to see Tina when I got off the bus, I had let her know when I was likely to be home. She was off to the chippy so I gave her my order!
A long and tiring day with challenging walking for someone as decrepit as me, but so glad I made the effort and the bridge is one of my favourite places.

  1. Although you’re probably worn out totally from all the walking and climbing steps, it’s well worth it to see such a spectacular sight. I remember all those steps from my visit there, but the views are so good it was worth feeling puffed out for a while. Looks like the weather stayed reasonable for you too. Probably a lot colder than it looks in the pics. I really love the first pic of the bridge emerging from the trees. You know how much I like silhouette type pics. You have lots of really great pics from the trip, but I bet you have even more that are as good.
Shame the buses were a bit long winded in both directions but really nice to have Tina waiting as you arrived at the home stop. Even better having your tea fetched for you too.
Tomorrow will probably be a quieter day for you, but there’s no telling with you. You’ll probably get the urge to set off somewhere during the day 😊 I’m not sure about you being decrepit, you’ve put me to shame again today!

  2. Lit is a good tired feeling tonight and it was well worth the effort. I did take a small flask as there is nowhere to get refreshments there.
Definitely planning a quieter day tomorrow.
