The journey to Driffield is a bus to Beverley and then another one from there to Driffield. The timetables said that I would miss the second bus by four minutes so would have almost an hour to wait, but as it happened the first bus arrived early and parked in the next bay to the one for Driffield so I got on it with about a minute to spare! The driver had explained where to get off and it was actually right outside the Yorkshire Trading Company, the very shop I wanted to go to, as I thought that was where I had bought the fabric ai already have. The lady didn’t recognise my samples and there was not a lot of choice. I ended up getting a metre of one with stags on and five metres of on with trees, that will be enough for some squares and the backing. I think they will work okay!
Driffield was pretty quiet today, and I liked the pub wall which I could see when waiting for the bus back to Beverley.
I had a bit of lunch before catching the bus and the cafe served chai lattes which was great. Many years ago I used to have the chai lattes at Sainsbury’s.
Just a ten minute wait for the second bus so didn’t hang about in Beverley as the material was quite heavy and bulky!
I spent some time cutting it some squares this afternoon, I have only done about thirty five and that has made my wrists ache, I need over two hundred in total so preparation may take a while, then I played a bit with laying them out.
A very bright moon this evening, this photo is reasonable because it was on full zoom and hand held!
The bad weather is heading this way so may be cutting out more squares tomorrow!
Sadly, Tina’s niece and her children are not going to visit now due to the storm, not long drive weather. They had still been going to visit despite Darren having Covid. A real shame as we have had hardly any visitors and when we moved to the seaside we though we would be inundated!
Glad to hear you two are both still negative for Covid. You’d think that all being in the same house that you’d all get it. Darren obviously isn’t a spreader 😊
ReplyDeleteYou did well to save yourself an hours wait on your trip to Driffield. That’s an extra hour for shopping and lunching, perfect.
I think the material you bought today goes well with what you already had. Full steam ahead with a lot of cutting now! You do like to make work for yourself!
There’s a fair bit more to Driffield than I expected, for some reason I had it down to be quite a small place. The sign on the pub is pretty much what you got on the material today.
I’ve not had a chai latte for years. Sainsburys was the last place I had one. Really fancy one now, so I’ll look in town next time I go.
That is a lot of squares you have to cut, but I’m sure it’ll all be worth the effort in the end, and it keeps you out of mischief I suppose. A very countrified theme from the looks of the squares you’ve already done.
That’s a great pic of the moon. You really do have a steady hand. Must be all the Baileys you drink 😊
That’s a real shame your visitors can’t make it ☹️ I know the Rev was really looking forward to their visit. It is going to be rough though, so probably for the best. There’ll always be another time. Might even get up there myself this year!
I am really pleased I decided to go to Driffield, much easier journey than I had anticipated, will go more regularly now.
ReplyDeleteI think the new fabrics will blend in okay.
Glad we are avoiding Covid at the moment.
