Scarborough and cinema!

This morning Tina and I set off for Scarborough as she had see some item in the jewellery and silver sale at the auction house. We couldn’t park in their few spaces so had to go to a town car park but after a brisk walk we were there in time for the sale. I saw a pair of earrings I liked , gold with marcasite and opals. They were early in the sale and I won the bid.
The 24% fees are a bit steep! Sadly the items Tina liked all went for very high amounts so she didn’t buy anything. We had a wander round the displays for up coming sales, the auctions used to take place in there but are now socially distanced in a small room upstairs.

It is fun looking round, there were hundreds of cotton reels some old sewing machines, and always the boxes of mixed items. Took a picture of this unusual painting before we left.
We walked into the town as Tina had banking to do. Took this picture while I waited outside.
We had lunch at Sainsbury’s, a long time since we have eaten there and the food is as good and reasonably priced as it used to be. Then we went to Lidl and had a look round while the car was at one of their charging points. We were leaving Scarborough just an hour before Sarah and David were picking me up to go to the pictures and the journey is an hour, longer if the traffic is bad! I texted David to tell them not to come too early, they have a habit of arriving well before the arranged time. We got home with five minutes to spare! We went to see ‘The Last Bus’, it was a gentle film funny in parts and sad as well, we enjoyed it. Took a couple of pictures from the area outside the screens.

Not home too late as it was an early evening showing. Quite a full day and I was ready for a drink when I got in!

  1. That’s a nice pair of earrings. I know you didn’t go with the intention of buying anything, but it’s easy for something like that to catch your eye. 24% fees is pretty steep! Sorry to hear Tina didn’t get any of the lots she was looking at. I do like auction houses, well looking rounds them at least. Not sure I’d make a good bidder though.
I’ve not anything to eat in a Sainsbury’s for a very long time, but I do remember how nice the food used to be. I really liked their egg and chips 😊
You did cut it a bit fine getting back in time for your evening outing, but it sounds like you all enjoyed the film, so it was worth it. I like the old projector you took a pic of, well I assume it’s a projector.
Quite a full day for you. Looking on the bright side, it kept you away from the puzzle. Although I’m guessing you’ll have at least 10 minutes on it tonight 😊

  2. Short reply, sitting too late back on the jigsaw! It was a good day, beginning to feel quite weary now.
I am sure there are some pieces missing from the jigsaw!
