I left with Darren just after 7.30am as his car was going in for MOT and service. Once the car was dropped off we went the the Tesco next door and had breakfast. Then we caught the bus into town, an interesting ride as the bus had an announcement system telling us the next stop. We noticed that not many of the ‘townies’ bothered with masks. When we got to the bus stations we got new timetables as our bus services changed this week and then we parted company, Darren was going home on the next bus and I walked off not the centre. Originally I thought I would walk to the Minster but changed my mind. The street water feature was more of a steam screen today!
Just after that I spotted the bridge that I have gone under with Tina a couple of times and thought I would make my way there.
Took a couple of photos of the water in front of Princes Quay.
Then some of the bridge and a view from it.
The marina was on the far side,
I started to stroll alongside the marina, I loved seeing the lightship.
There was a place that sold drinks so I had a coffee and a sit down for a bit. Then I thought I would see if I could get to the river. I didn’t as there was major construction work going on, but I found things of interest starting with this telephone box.
The building housing the toilets looked really old.
I didn’t take photos inside but they were fabulous. Solid wooden doors, old fashioned sinks and taps, pull chains and even a set of free standing scales! Down another street a mural.
Pavement art.
Old and new back at the marina.
Then an interesting horizontal steam engine!
Looking in the water at Princes Quay there were large fish basking.
I walked to Queens gardens to find a shady seat for a bit, then had to take a selfie!
I made my way back to the station where I had a welcome cup of tea and a packet of crisps! Then the bus home.
This afternoon Darren got a lift back into Hull to collect his car with Tina. The telephone engineer turned up just after they left but that is a whole other story. I did a few chores and after tea watered the bonsai trees, now planning on doing anything tonight but it was a great time in Hull.
Wow, what a great day for pics. You have some real lovely ones. Too many to comment on individually, but I can honestly say I didn’t see one I didn’t like. Great reflections, lovely bright colours and lots of unusual subjects. Definitely think you should have taken a couple in the ladies loo though 😊 Love the old lighthouse ship and the old and new photo at the marina. Wonder what those fish are in the quay?
ReplyDeleteYou put me to shame with your little adventures. You’re always gallivanting off somewhere and enjoying yourself. The furthest I seem to get these days is into town! 😊 I really must make more of an effort.
So where is it tomorrow, somewhere exciting? 😄
It is surprising what you can discover locally, all this time up here and hadn't visited the marina. The bridge is new and I think it is great. Have done quire a bit of walking this week so may not venture too far!
