Despite the rain I went into Hull again as I had a special offer voucher which ran out in a couple of days. Actually the weather cheered up and no rain while I was out. Before going to Boots for the offer I decided to make my way to the other end of town to the Minster. This very attractive building when I was almost there.
There are wet paving areas in front of the Minster and the pigeons were loving it, the reflections were good too!
A picture before I went in.
Quite a few from inside, no explanations needed.
One more shot from a different angle as I was leaving.
This was an interesting restaurant/bar, encouraging people to play chess!
I had passed a veterans charity sh that had a free museum inside. A lot of WW1 and some WW2, another batch of pics!
A couple of gents in there to answer questions and tell stories to add perspective to the exhibits. I bought a book called ‘Corky’s War’, it is about a young man who became a stretcher bearer in WW1 and he kept diaries. He gave them to a friend before his death and he wrote the book using his actual entries. He was a Hull man and I have started it, he is just going to be posted.
I walked back to Boots which is near the bus station and had a welcome cup of tea. From where I was sitting the large vehicle looked like it had a leaded windscreen!
On the bus on the way home we stopped by a sign that I had hoped we would at some point, really wanted to take a photo, you will see why!
So, another day of pounding the streets, very enjoyable too.
May start the jigsaw tonight, then again may just fall asleep!
Well another day gallivanting and exploring. Lots of great pics again. I do like taking pics in and out of churches, minsters etc myself. They are recalling interesting and lend themselves to some great photos. I like the reflections you got in the wet paving too. You do keep your eyes open for picture opportunities. A lot of people miss them, including me. The little museum looked very good for a freebie. Nice to have people on hand to give explanations and stories too. The book sounds good, so you should enjoy that. The funeral directors sign is funny, I can see why you wanted that one 😊
ReplyDeleteAnother great day, and lots of steps! You’ll be totally worn out soon. A day of rest tomorrow?
Bet you did start the jigsaw. Hope the pieces aren’t too tiny 😄
Another enjoyable day, may even get a bit fitter, more likely fit to drop!
ReplyDeleteNo jigsaw, yet, relaxing with a cat on my lap.
