New plants in the garden

This morning I cooked the square cake for a second time, four hours to see if it is okay this time. Bel came round for a cuppa and chat, she does really well but is really out of breath by the time she has walked here using her walker and has made her way up the stairs. We had a good catch up and when she went home I went to the shops to get something for lunch and the ingredients I was short of to make the round cakes again!Got the cake out just before we had lunch and it seems fine this time.
This afternoon I went out to tidy up the front bed with the sign in. Got a bit carried away and did some pruning and removed dead plants, especially along the sign. Didn’t take a before picture so have gone back a few weeks to show what it was like.

Had a bit of an insect day again today!

Blue loves boxes, as you can see when she was out in the garden with me.

I worked hard out there today and my wrists are complaining at the moment. I got all the new plants into that bed.
After a bit of a break I watered both gardens and then got all the ingredients weighed and the tins lined for the last two cakes (hopefully, fingers firmly crossed!)  Dod the shopping order with Tina and got up here after 8pm. I would like to think I will sleep well tonight, but not holding my breath!

  1. I wonder if this entry will print double tonight?!
Well Margherita and Rose’s cake looks good. I fancy a slice now! Hopefully tomorrow will be the last Christmas cake baking day this year. Just all the other work you have to do on them left now!
You certainly made a difference to that front bed. It looks lovely. Way too much work though! At least Blue appreciated you being out there. Cats all love boxes and containers. Strange things.
You do get a lot of insects in your garden. Two butterflies is showing off! I rarely see one in mine.
Bet the shopping order didn’t come to as much this week!
Good luck with the sleeping. I think you’ve earned a good night.

  2. It feels like I have been busy, but probably my age and lack of fitness!
We do have plenty of insects but I do make an effort to have insect friendly flowers.
