There were a couple of beds in the back garden in serious need of attention, not going to bore you with pictures! But I worked until lunch and was out there again for a while afterwards. Darren brought me out a cuppa this morning so I sat on the swing seat, was soon joined by my shadows, one each side of course to prevent a fight to spoil the peace.
I tried to support the hollyhocks by the dead tree as they were leaning over so that we couldn’t appreciate them.
There were cabbage white butterflies flitting about, they did land briefly and closed their wings. So I tried for a while to catch one in flight, but they are so quick!
I supported some gladioli, not so many this year, I think some of them must have rotted. I will lift them this autumn.
Tina and Darren received this rose on their silver wedding, it was in a container but I moved it into the garden and it seems happy.
Some produce from the garden. The apples are from a sapling tree that I planted a couple of years ago.
I walked along to the pet shop this afternoon as they are getting some plant markers for me. I spotted a lady that had been to my craft sessions in the Chocolate cafe so went and had a drink with her and a chat.
Got a feature length Casualty to watch tonight.
That sky does look unusual, more like ripples on water.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you didn’t work all day in the garden. It looks like your two furry friends were keeping an eye on you anyway 😊
I’ve hardly seen any butterflies in the garden this year, not even cabbage whites. They definitely aren’t as plentiful as they used to be in the olden days.We seem to be driving out all the insects and bugs. Such a shame really.
The gladioli really are a good looking flower.I can see why Dame Edna likes them so much 😊
The produce from the garden looks really nice, and it makes a great subject for a still life. With the veg box too, you’ve never had so much veg.
Enjoy Casualty. Hopefully it’ll be a cheery episode tonight for a change.
Casualty was good, looking forward to the start of the next session now, there is a break for a few weeks I think.
ReplyDeleteWe have had a few butterflies, but not as many as usual and we have plenty of insect friendly plants.
