Lovely walk by the Nene

Today Skip drove me into town to save me catching the bus so that I could meet up with Mike. I took some photos before I met him, one of the guildhall, one of the cathedral and one of a statue if a person on a roof top!

We had breakfast and went into Smiths where Mike bought a couple of things he was looking for and I looked for a book that I had seen in Waterstones in Hull. Smith’s didn’t have it but the Waterstones did, it is called The Right Sort of Girl and is by Anita Rani, and it is a signed copy as it had been in Hull.
We walked through Rivergate shopping centre and along to the river. I was sorry we didn’t have any food for the swans.
Then we had a lovely walk along the river side, it was very peaceful nd looked lovely.

We took a path away from the river through an area I had never been before, there was a nice green nd some lovely bungalows. The we got to River Lane and this store had a great painting above it.

The little homes were absolutely adorable!
We ended up at the steps leading up to the town bridge near the station.
It had been so quiet when we had walked past the houses and right to the steps, the noise of the traffic at the to was quite a shock. We crossed over and there was quite a nice view of the cathedral in the distance.
It looked like it might rain then but luckily it didn’t. There were some unusual paintings on the underpass leading to the station, just took one photo.
We went over the bridge to Queensgate and had a drink in the M&S cafe as we had been walking for a while. So munch so that I was rubbing a blister on my bunion, so had to go into Boots to get plasters! We had a wander round the market where I got a to for £5 and then we had fish and chips at Parrots.
We caught the bus and went to Mike’s for a couple of hours and he gave me a little sign that he had made some time ago for me to paint.
We had enjoyed a really lovely day together. Skip came and picked me up just after 4pm. I had a quick chat with Rachel who wa still working and then I had an hour in the hot tub, followed by a shower!
A relaxing evening and lovely sweet and sour chicken with rice for tea.
Seeing Anya and Isobel tomorrow and a friend from years ago who just happened to get in touch with me last week!

  1. It was a great day. I really enjoyed our time together. We seemed to cram a lot in and we walked a fair distance in the end. It is lovely down by the river, and I will do the same walk another day when I’m in town. You got some nice pics as usual. I told you that one you took on the bend of the river would be good. In fact I think it’s a great shot. Well spotted.
It was nice to sit and relax at mine for a while after our long walk. Think you faired better by ending the day with a dip in a hot tub though 😊
Enjoy the next couple of days.
