Not a snappy day!

Today has been damp on and off, and Lesley and I decided I would go round to her this afternoon. I think she was keen to come and do some gardening as although that had been the original plan she has only been round a couple of times. The weather and her times away have got in the way, and today I wasn’t really in the mood! I did some shopping this morning as I needed some ingredients so that I could make some more courgette bread. Grating the courgettes is a messy job but the loaves turn out really well.
After lunch I cleared up the debris and then went round to Lesley’s house. I haven’t been inside before and it is really lovely and stylish. We nattered for over two hours and had a cuppa with a slice each of the bread which I had taken with me. When I got home I headed out again to take some of the bread to Bel and then to Sarah and David.
Since tea I have been trying to do some of the jigsaw, it is very SLOW progress!
Darren had literally just come up to see how it is going and is going to try and do some, suits me!
You never know, I may actually fancy gardening tomorrow to get me away from the jigsaw!!

Tried the new pottery painting shop

I was up late this morning and took is easy, had a shower and did a bit of the jigsaw, bit is accurate, it really is a challenge. Darren drove me up to Freeport and we had a coffee before we went into the pottery place. Darren just came to look. I had seen a wren in the window a couple of weeks ago and had gone armed with a picture and my own paint brushes! There were no wrens on the shelves where you chose what to paint so they got the one out of the window for me. I didn’t find the place too welcoming but sat for about an hour and a half painting the wren. You are allowed two hours of painting time so that was okay. I asked for a cup of tea and got a cappuccino! I left my name and phone number and the girl said it will be ready in about a week, they will give me a call. I took a photo, the colours should be much stronger as they always look pale before firing.
I had some lunch before I walked home. The first roundabout has a very colourful flower display on it.
The fire station has had the doors painted, very eye catching,
It was damp in the air on the way back, not really rain, but the wind was quite cool.
I tried to do some of the jigsaw, it really is a stinker and the only guide is the picture on the bottom of the box! At least the edge is complete now.
I have been to see Sarah and David for a catch up this evening and giving the jigsaw a rest for today!

Boot sale and a challenge from Darren!

We set off quite early for the boot sale as we guessed it would be busy being a bank holiday weekend. We had out sandwich and then we’re there a bit longer than usual as there were a lot of stalls. Quite a queue along the road when we left to get in, I am always sorry for the ones who aren’t going to the boot sale and are off out for the day! We got some nice bits and Darren spotted the tiny 500 piece jigsaw!
The duck was just adorable so will take a closer one. I know I need another ornament as much as I need a hole in the head, but it was just soooo cute!

The gecko is already up in the bathroom and has plenty of company as I have them all over the walls! I had spotted a hoody type top on the way round, I loved the slogan but it was only a medium. Anyway, it was still there as we were leaving so I took a chance. I managed to get into it with difficulty and got Darren to take a photo.
I did say I got into it with difficulty, that was nothing compared to trying to get it off! I couldn’t, so Darren had to pull the back up for me so that I could reach it! Might have to just hang it on the wall!
We were going to watch the Grand Prix but it was a total wash out! I made a rice pudding as we had a milk mountain, but by the time I had made a lot of cheese sauce for the dinner I had to go and buy a small bottle to last until the morning delivery!
When the dinner was on the way I went out and watered the back garden and the tubs at the front. I have loved these small alliums in their different stages, they were gorgeous red pom-poms, but they are still attractive now they are seeding.
The jigsaw states that ‘A devilishly difficult puzzle for those who enjoy a challenge’, I can confirm that this is the case, thanks Darren! The coin is a 5p.
Not convinced it will get finished, but I do like a challenge and don’t like to give up!
A new Vera on tonight so we will watch that.

Quiet day, lovely evening stroll

I woke up in a lot of pain today and was struggling to walk when I went out to feed the birds. When I came in I found last nights pills sitting on the side, that may explain the extra discomfort! I was just about dressed when the shopping arrived as it came early, Tina was still eating her breakfast. I went to the shops calling at Missy first as Tina had said they had a sale. But the shop was closed. I had a quick look around the monthly market. The town cryer was out and about today.

Saw this hydrangea while I was out.
There was a bag of dropped apples on the table, some had already gone mouldy so although they were small eaters, there were a lot, but quite a few bruised, si decided to rescue what I could and make a pie for a change. While it was cooking I did the first feed of the Christmas cakes, including the rejects! The pie turned out well.
Tina went to the craft fair and bought me some goodies the cottons are recycled.
Watched the Grand Prix qualifying this afternoon and had a chat with the American clan. After dinner I went to Mappleton, we walked down the slope and onto the beach. Quite a few photos now and even a couple of sunset ones to finish.

Going to the boot sale in the morning so had better remember to take the pills tonight!

Travelling and train spotting!

A very different set of pictures for me today, doubt there will be another like it for a while! Skip and Olivia came to the station to set me on my journey home, had plenty of time as I had to go across the bridge to one of the other platforms. Had to get through the barrier first and with a little advice from a rain worker managed to get through using the phone. Getting more tech savvy, very slowly! As I got to the lift I spotted this train about to pull out.
Rather fabulous artwork. I had an hour on Doncaster station so stopped for a drink before checking want platform I needed to be on. I was quite excited that I had to go to Platform 0, had never been to that one before and you have to go over a bridge as it is out on its own a bit away from the other platforms. The bridge is a bit like an airport walkway.
Took a couple of photos through the windows, just happened to be a train going through.
Took a couple more of a long goods train going by.

The train to Hull was fine, I had bought a book of short stories by Anthony Doerr and was really engrossed in the first one, it is called Memory Wall, and really interesting. I didn’t have too long to wait for the bus once I got to the stop and managed to get my usual seat at the back. I had seen this painting on a building from the bus before but we had never stopped near enough. The lights changed just at the right time today.
Tina was in and had the kettle on when I got home which was nice. We caught up on the weeks events. I have unpacked and went out to check the trees, but feeling quite weary so haven’t done much else. Pandora isn’t too friendly at the moment, maybe she will keep sleeping with
Darren and Tina. May be an early night tonight.

Another good day

Firstly I will mention that I have changed a cat on the bed to a dog while I have been aware. Cookie has spent every night with me and is already asleep at the foot of the bed tonight.
She is a poppet and no trouble at all.
This morning my friend Angie called for me and we went to a garden centre for a coffee and a good old natter and then a look round and then went to the Harvester pub for lunch and a lot more chatting!
I read a bit this afternoon and watched some of the Paralympics and then went for a walk to Itter Park. Took a few pictures, one of the church on the way and the others in the park.

I have been sleeping in Olivia’s room and she has a collection of Manga dolls that are attractive.
This evening I went to Anya’s and we had a take away birthday meal, followed by cake!

Then we had a game of Yahtzee followed by a lovely hot chocolate made in her new chocolate drink maker. Was home in time to have a chat with Rachel and Olivia. Case is now half packed ready for the journey home tomorrow.

Another lovely day, different part of the Nene

This morning Anya and Isobel called for me at 10am. Anya had told me about the Krispy Kreme shop where you could see the donuts being made so she took us there first. We did stop by the window and watch all the donuts go by for a while before going and ordering!

Then we went to Orton Mere and went down to look at the river, a very regular haunt of mine when I lived in Peterborough.

Then we went back across the railway line and had a walk along the path that leads to Ferry Meadows.

We stopped at a bridge and then turned back but took some photos. Actually the one of me with Isobel was still at Orton Mere.

We went to Notcutts garden centre and had a look round, starting at the pets building. Then into the main building and had lunch. I took this photo as we were leaving as the bush in the middle was unusually shaped.
Anya and I had a go with the hula hoop gadget in the car park, she managed no better than me! Then we went off to visit a lady that I had been friends with when Anya was small, she got her daughter to come over as well as she and Anya used to play together.

It was lovely to see them after so many years. Nora had only got in touch with me again last week so brilliant timing!
Have just had a relaxing evening and plenty of chat.
Seeing another friend tomorrow,
