A walk and visit to the cottage hospital

This morning I decided to take another walk, no letters to post and didn’t take a bag as wasn’t going to be carrying any shopping home. The mahonia in the front garden is just flowering and looks lovely, will smell pretty good in a couple of days too!
I got as far as the Memorial Gardens today then had a sit down before I made my way home.
On the other side of the road on the way back this garden was a burst of colour.
After lunch Tina took me to the cottage hospital where I was having the dressing taken off the wound. A very pleasant nurse who removed the dressing carefully. One end was a little messy and had wept a bit so she has suggested keeping it dressed for a while and changing the dressing after a shower. She asked. If ai had any problems so I mentioned the compression stockings and how they made my calves ache so much she thought they were too tight and  they add to the problem of not sleeping. She said they were very tight and said they had seen this before when people weren’t measured properly. So I have dispensed with them now (no medical pun intended) and have some ordered on line that will arrive tomorrow. I am still taking the anti coagulant tablets so hopefully missing one night will be fine from what I have heard from other folk they are often dumped long before the time ai have been wearing them. That aside, a picture of the rather impressive wound!
This afternoon I got another present from one of Tina’s congregation, another colouring book, this one of various cat images.
Have sat and done one, quite a variety of images in there, some like the ones on the cover, some a bit like cartoons and some just straightforward cats. Have done one a bit earlier.
Tina was taking me to Peterborough tomorrow, but both of us separately were having serious second thoughts about flaunting the rules for our area. So now we have cancelled and hope one way or another the cakes will get to their recipients!

  1. A short walk is good, but don’t go overdoing it. Nice to get out and get some pics though. I really like the one of the flowers through the railings. You’re very good at getting a good composition. Some great colours too. I know how much you like the mahonia. That’s the one that’s outside Margherita’s house if I remember correctly. It does smell really nice.
The wound is soooo long. I know they had to get access to both bone ends to saw bits off etc, so I knew it’d be big. Just looks larger now I can see it bare so to speak. Not surprised it gives you grief. At least you now know the compression stockings probably aren’t helping much either as they’re so tight. It’ll be like heaven in bed tonight without it on. Hopefully the new ones won’t be so bad.
You’ve got loads of colouring books now. Should keep you occupied for a while. I like the one on the cover.
Good decision not to come to Peterborough tomorrow. Not worth taking risks, specially when you’ve got plenty to cope with already. Plus poor Darren would have to get his own Christmas dinner if you two were locked up in Holloway for flaunting the rules 😊 The cakes will arrive eventually, and looking on the bright side they’ll have had longer to mature.

    1. A good day all in all with a bit of sadness of not making the rip, but we know it is the right decision.
Hopefully will manage a bit of a walk most days and tomorrow have compression stockings which are at leas bearable to wear!
      Onwards and upwards hopefully.
