Wake up Jan!

Another bad night and feeling more tired by the day! I had thought of taking a walk along the main street but ended up not going outside at all. This morning a coloured one of the small letters sitting down in the dining room, took a picture of th sky through the window while I was down there, it has been a grey day with some rain.
I did have a shower first thing and allowed myself a couple of hours without the compression stockings, then thought I had better keep on with them even though they make my calves really uncomfortable. One of the stockings was badly laddered yesterday so have kept the slippers on today. That makes my feet hot but best protect the stockings!
I have finished reading my book today, it has been slow progress as at the moment the tv or reading sends me pretty much instantly to sleep! After lunch I was going to come up and make a card with the coloured letter and maybe do some wrapping. In the end I decided to settle down  on the recliner chair and let myself drift off and slept for an hour.
I have come upstairs for a while this evening but will slip on the recliner tonight, or maybe not sleep, but will give it a go. I have used the ice packs a couple of times this afternoon and will use one again tonight. I did finish the card off and have written it ready to be sent soon.
Feeling sleepy, I’ll be off to bed soon.

Fabulous crib and more lovely flowers.

Not the best of nights again, but made myself stay in one position for longer in an attempt to sleep more. Just difficult to get the leg into a comfortable position at the moment, but early days, so still trying to keep positive. Yesterday evening, as I didn’t feel too bright Tina brought a gift into me that was gong be for Christmas. She buys quite a lot of some really nice scented stuff sold by a friend. I now have my very own scented groot hanging by my bed!

He can’t help but make me smile!
This morning I took a slow walk along to the church as I wanted to see the nativity I had cleaned for Tina displayed in the lovely crib that Steve has made. It is lovely with a Perspex front to protect it and would be difficult not to spot it when walking by the church!

Rachel and Skip called in briefly this afternoon. I had her birthday present wrapped and ready and they also took their cake. I got some more lovely flowers, have been very spoilt this week.
I have done a lot of present wrapping today and watched some of the Grand Prix, very spectacular and scary crash today.
Tina cooked a lovely roast dinner which I enjoyed, should have major surgery more often!
Strictly results now and hopefully more sleep tonight.

Unpacked the case at last!

Today I have stayed upstairs for most of the day, I enjoy being downstairs but am too tired to do anything when I come up here for the evening. I had a shower this morning and put on a fresh pair of the dreaded compression stockings, they are really beginning to make my calves ache to add to the other general aches and pains. Only change them every other day, but one of them has laddered and won’t last much longer, so will have to put one new one on tomorrow.
I did get the case unpacked, not before time, and got some of the letters I had coloured frames as they are for presents. I have started the gift wrapping now. I had a very poor night again so have felt tired so have had several breaks using the ice packs. I sis in the recliner then and have a book that I am enjoying.
Talked to the American family this afternoon, they enjoyed Thanksgiving albeit quieter than usual.
I have developed a new pain today, my left thigh is really tender now so sitting comfortably is a bit difficult.
Haven’t taken any photos today so have rooted out some from two years ago!

Maybe will have photo ops tomorrow!

Have felt better!

Not the best of days today, not a lot of sleep again and just not feeling overly bright. The compression stockings are really making my calves ache, can’t see me sticking with them for six weeks! I started colouring a sheet from the Celtic book, working on trying to achieve shading. Will do a series of pictures of my efforts, finished it before I came upstairs..

This morning I went up to Freeport with Darren. The only shop open was Pound Stretcher. Managed to walk to the shop from the car park and round the store. We had to wait for quite a while at the checkout and it was then that I really began to feel quite poorly, haven’t really picked up since, so have had several sessions on the recliner chair and used the cold wheat bag thing. Two new ones turned up today so now I can do the icing more regularly, keeping two downstairs in the freezer and one up here in my little freezer compartment.
The new colouring book also arrived, it is floral initial letters. They are quite small and would lend themselves to individual cards which is good,

Judi, one of Tina’s parishioners called by and left a card and some sweets form me. Very nice they are too.
Steve was here most of the morning and back in the afternoon helping Tina get lights put up in the front garden and getting the nativity set displayed in a crib that he has made. Will try and get a photo of that tomorrow. This evening the lights went on at 6.30pm. This would have been lights night, a very big event in the Hornsea calendar but had obviously been cancelled this year. Also the town council decided they weren’t putting the lights up at all this year so a lot of people have put lights near their own properties. Tried to take a couple of pics with the phone, one when downstairs and one out of the window up here. Neither very good but you get the idea!

Hoping to feel a bit brighter tomorrow!

Bit of a panic and then an outing!

Yesterday evening ai was getting myself worked up as I was experiencing a different pain in my knee and started to convince myself something was wrong! Then I had a really bad night, up at one for the loo and didn’t really settle, then at four I couldn’t shake off the pain so took myself downstairs to the recliner chair. I got a bit of sleep and decided that the pain was just the wound trying to heal under the sticky dressing and to go with it. I knew that the doctor said the new pain killers would be at the chemists today. I had a shower and managed to get the fresh compression socks on myself. Took a picture of the bruising on the inside of my leg, goodness knows what they were doing with it during surgery!
Another present through the post today, this time flowers from my friend Angie.
Tina was off today and we had a two hour window between deliveries. We were going to feed the ducks at a pond near Burton Agnes and Tina checked and Burton Agnes gardens were open and they were serving take away food.

We parked in the disabled parking and there was a reasonable walk to the food area and where they were selling plants. Tina ordered toasted filled pita breads and a drink, I made my way across to the picnic tables. I was sitting on one of them when I took this photo, as you can see, a reasonable distance for someone who had her knee replaced less than a week ago!
A few more shots from where we were sitting.

There was a lovely holly bush/tree next to where we sat. Quite stunning.
This afternoon I didn’t do a lot, put my feet up and used the ice pack. I had an email from an American fabric company with fantastic Black
Friday deals. The postage was very reasonable so Tina and I picked some bargains and I got them ordered with minutes to spare!
I will sleep on the recliner tonight, well, hopefully I will actually sleep tonight!

Presents and some discomfort

Another quiet day today, some colouring, pictures in a bit.  I have had more pain near the wound today and the bruising, especially at the back of my leg which I can’t really see, is getting quite spectacular! May start with the photo that Tina took.
This morning the first delivery was flowers from Anya, from a different company and they were well packaged Nd quite lovely.
Pandora spent most of the day near me, having spent the night on my bed, she really is being a little shadow! Here she is curled up by
Tina’s temporary alter! She is doing morning prayer from home this week as asbestos is being cleared out in the church.
Another delivery and this time a Devonshire cream tea from Anya and family. A photo of one of the scones in a bit. I coooured another one of the letters this morning, cracking with them!
This afternoon my book of Celtic illuminate letters arrived. There are three pages at the end that aren’t single letters, have started one of them and am trying to get more shading.
I had a telephone consultation with a doctor this afternoon, he was very good and has prescribed a different tablet for me to try nd suggested that I don’t take one of the combination that I have. The new prescription should be ready for tomorrow.
Despite have some more, different pain, I am managing the exercises much better now so that is positive.
Tina hasn’t felt too well today so we had take away this evening, and now I have just had one of the delicious scones,
Watching Portrait Artist of the Year now.

Taking it easy and being waited on!

I managed to get on and off the bed safely during the night, and get some sleep although changing position proved a challenge. Pandora spent the whole night on the bed and both cats have spent a lot of the day in the same room as me. I had a shower this morning which was lovely as it was the first time I have used my own toiletries in over a week. The dressing is waterproof and I took the compression stockings off. Tina helped me get a clean pair on as they are really tight! First picture today is of the sunrise, an amazing photo by Lunny.
I spent the day down in the dining room, which was just as well as Tina was out quite a bit and the visitors made it a bit like Piccadilly Circus! That was my walking exercise for today. Sarah andDavid arrived when Tina was in and they bought me some hyacinths much to Tina’s dismay, they were pink as well! Later on in the day Lunny bought me some hyacinths too!

I spent a lot of the day colouring another one of the initial letters, quite a complex one and I am pleased with the result.
A delivery came for the three of us, no card or message but wi presume from the American arm of the family, something for me to do another day!
I made an appointment to get my dressing removed and the wound checked next week. Not so much success with ordering more painkillers, will try to talk to a doctor tomorrow. Have done some exercises,

Exhausting day!

As I was allowed to be ‘independent’ I did manage to get up unaided during the night, managed to pitch my water over my puzzle book and novel but otherwise no problem. The physios had hinted that if I managed the stairs they may discharge me today, so I got up and dressed this morning before the nurse arrived.
I was in a lot of pain today so the morning session with the physio was a strain but she decided that I could manage the 90 degree bend. She said that they would be back after lunch to take me to the stairs. I did order lunch, I picked the vegetarian option of cauliflower gratin, it was small but really tasty.
The stair practice was a job joke really, just three steps and one ascent and descent! That of course was a pass and I was heading home!
Tina arrived a bit later and it is good to be home, even if I may not be completely ready for the move. There was a lovely sunset behind us so Tina went round a roundabout so that I could try and catch it! She is good.....

I was worried about getting onto my bed as it is high, the one in the hospital was low chair height! But the physio had shown me how to use a dressing gown belt to assist the operates leg, and it is a bit painful but can get onto the bed. Will just have to try not to get up too many times in the night. I won’t be late to bed tonight.

Hello from The Spire

Well the blood pressure was acceptable yesterday morning so didn’t need my readings. Today the nurse didn’t give me the blood pressure medication as it has been okay today! I went down a bit after eleven I think and was back from recovery a bit after two I think. But will put one photo of my room and one of Paul, the very friendly nurse who booked me in.
Not a great view, but great to have an opening window.
Took the first photo of me in the early hours, I felt pretty rough yesterday, very nauseous and being sick. The second one was when I had freshened up and feeling fine today.
Very different look, maybe not one to keep though!
Have been eating today, the meals are fine and I particularly enjoyed my tea.
Had physio exercises this morning and have been out of bed using a frame this afternoon. Can go to the loo on my own now!
From that to this!
Standing was pretty painful and the lifting the leg when sat on the bed really painful too, but it will get easier. All in all, a good day today.
