Happy birthday Darren

Darren took the day off which was nice and was pleased with his gifts this morning. He really liked the dragon card too.
My friend Sarah is back from South Africa and I went round to see her for a while this morning. We had a good gossip and she seems refreshed and is plnning to make her life a little less stressful by backing away from some of commitments - allegedly - will believe it when I see it!
They bought me back a fabulous present, but I think they wanted me to have a go at making them, not just admir them. Jewellery made from Nespresso coffee pods!
How great, and clever are they?
I went out to do a bit more clearing in the garden, no boring pictures of that today, but while I was working Bernard arrived to fit some steps and decking  at the entrance of the summer house, and he also brought some fancy paving slabs to set it off. Looks absolutely fabulous and was very reasonable.
I made birthday tea, mini toad in the holes in muffin cases and then we had a piece of the tower cake for dessert. It cut well and tasted pretty good too.
I have done some watering this evening, we haven’t had any rain for a while now.

  1. Love the jewellery. I’d never have guessed they were made for coffee pods. People always seem to find a use for the strangest things. You just need to find someone with a Nespresso now to get some empty pods. I look forward o seeing your version when you get some.
The steps and slabs make quite a difference to the front of the summerhouse. Things are really coming together in the garden now. I hope you plenty of use out of it this summer. Any garden parties planned?
That’s a very brightly coloured cake. It does look really light and fluffy too. Don’t think it’ll last long!

  2. Will be good to see if I can make something worthwhile out of pods, I guess any will do but some might be stronger than others.
Really delighted with the work he has done in front of the summer house and now you can step straight in without a steep step, perfect.
There is a lot of the cake as it was two full size sponges.
