Great outing

This morning Sarah and David picked me up as the rain had arrived and we went off to Skirlaugh garden centre. We set off fairly late so it was lunch time when we arrived. We ordered our food, it was alittle while arriving but very tasty and worth the wait. We chatted and enjoyed the meal before going to look around.

It is not just a garden centre but like a small village with interesting different outlets. It did rain on and off but it didn’t spoil our browsing.

To my surprise there was a dolls house shop and even more exciting there was a Tudor house for sale at a very reasonable price. Ever since I made a dolls house for Isobel I have had the dream of making a Tudor dolls house. I don’t have a workroom as such now but don’t need much space to make furniture. We went away and wandered a bit more, then I decided I was buying it. By then it was tipping down with rain but the lady kindly took measurements and came out to work out whether we could get it into the car! We decided it wouldn’t fit so I bought the house and said I would get Darren or Tina to come and collect it with me. I did take photos, the second one not quite in focus but it gives the general idea.

I went back and had a drink with them before coming home. Tina has said she will take me over to collect the house in the morning. It will be a busy day as we are going to Eastfield garden centre in the afternoon for birthday afternoon tea!
The storm has rolled in tonight so the garden has had a good watering. The first picture was through the landing window which isn’t too clean!

Tina sent me this one of the stormy skies over the mere.
A very nice day and a good one to look forward to tomorrow.

  1. Really pleased to hear you’ve had such a nice day. The pudding sitting on the table looks yummy, so I can imagine it being a nice meal. The dolls house is great. Definitely needs black woodwork as you mentioned earlier. I was thinking the inside was totally plain, but it’s been done in the Tudor style which will save you a bit of work. You’ll have fun making stuff for it and I look forward to seeing the updates as you go along. Hopefully I’ll get to see it in person at some point.
Those skies do look a bit gloomy, but at least it didn’t affect your day too much. Tina’s pic is quite funky.
Should be a good day for you tomorrow.

  2. A really enjoyable day and the dolls house place was the cherry on the cake, so to speak.
I really am looking forward to getting the house home.
It should be another good day tomorrow, being spoilt this year!

  3. Hi Jan. So glad you like the bottle. They are bit tricky to do as we r beginners. Would you take a photo of it and put on the blog as I forgot to take one and would like to see it. I am going to Continue with this kind of thing to start with. That is to say... Finding glass which has already a pattern on it and then going over it with an outliner I found some glass bowls in charity, a set of 5, and they have a raised pattern on them, more so just lots of jagged lines. And I am outlining them and then fill in some spaces with paint. Then bake it on in the oven. I will use them to put my famous jelly mousse in.
The last photo of yours on this day of your blog is Confusing me a bit. It that cloud which goes a cross the photo??
    Xxx
