I caught the bus up to the garden centre, it is never a good plan, I buy too much and then have to carry it back to the bus stop without damaging anything. It is quite a step from the garden centre to the stop and you have to cross the road, which is quite busy, twice. I bought some vegetable seedlings to go in the raised beds and a couple of courgette plants, but no bulbs! Also got some more mealworms but have since found that I can get them cheaper on line. A slight panic at the garden centre, I stopped for a drink and then wandered off to look around the shop and select my purchases. When I was heading for the checkout I realised I didn’t have my bag, or of course my purse! Luckily the man that works there had realised and had put it behind the counter.
After lunch I went out into the garden and got the vegetable seedlings into the raised beds.
We have a bed where I have now planted the fruit bushes, but prior to that it had been the dumping ground. It is on the way to the greenhouse and the state of it has been bothering me for a while now. Had intended just hoeing it but soon discovered it was a digging job!
Worked on it for quite a while, I can manage digging without much discomfort, the weeding is much more difficult for me. I will plant the tow courgette plants at th bottom now that it is clearer.
Taking it easy now, looking forward th The Bay later.
The hyacinths looks lovely. I really like them, and the smell, but like you the ones I had indoors didn’t do as well as usual either.
ReplyDeleteIt is a bit of a trek to get to the garden centre on the bus, I remember it well. But it’s a nice place and worth a bit of effort. You’d think not having a cor would curtail the buying a bit, but well packed bags on the bus work just as well 😊 Good job the nice man in the cafe had your bag safe or you wouldn’t have been bringing anything home on the bus!
Not surprised you’re taking it easy this evening. You’ve got a fair bit done this afternoon, including way too much digging!
Could definitely see where I have been working today and the crows have been enjoying seeing what they could find on the newly dug bed! It always makes me feel better when another area is tidied up.
ReplyDeleteI have never grown outdoor hyacinths before, I have a few in other beds as well.
