Trip to Driffield

We both had deliveries coming today and we needed to see Shane, the Ringtons man, as he won’t be calling for a month now. Tina had been told about a garden centre we haven’t been to in Driffield, so we set off to find it. It is by a flour mill and the water levels were high.
The cafe was in a separate building, we had a very nice breakfast, although it was almost dinner time. I had the vegetarian version and was delighted that their vegetarian sausages were not the pretend meat sort but the ones moe like spring rolls. I think it was at Eastfield garden centre the other time, but they couldn’t remember where they got them. Today the chef was lovely,, they get them from a warehouse and she is going to order a box for me to collect in January. How good is that? Then we went into the garden centre and it was lovely. Not a big flash one but lots of interesting stuff and a lot of the things were on sale. More of the purchases later. We bought some swan and duck food and went out to feed them. Quite a few pics, we have never seen so many damaged swans, only a couple had the wings still fully intact. A few pics of a bold one who made a very good attempt at eating my hand along with the food several times. Tina did not feed him by hand!
I did take one picture inside the garden centre of the fairly understated Christmas display.
Tina loved the snowman! Then we went into Driffield and had a coffee and a little wander round. Only took a stick today and managed quite well.
We got a lovely little Christmas tree, drastically reduced and in lovely condition for £5 and a really pretty jigsaw for £2.99, that is really cheap too.
At the garden centre I got a very unusual hand hoe and a multi bird feeder.
Also this amazing heron feature, much cheaper than expected and another 20% off.
When we got home I took Sher’s cake round to her and had a quick chat.
Today I have got about ten pieces into the jigsaw!
Visitor day tomorrow.

  1. You have had a nice by the sounds of it. It’s always good to find a new garden centre. I’m really surprised you didn’t buy any bulbs though 😊
The water does look a bit high by that mill. Hopefully you don’t get too much rain in the near future.
It’s really nice of them to order you a box of the veggie sausages. Not a lot of places like that would do it. They’d rather you went there to eat and spend much more.
Swans can be very bold. They are very good looking too., so nice to be able to get some close up pics like those.
You do like buying orphan Christmas trees. It does look a good one though unlike the ones you usually get with half their limbs missing πŸ˜€ The new puzzle looks almost sensible compared to the one you’re doing now. Mind you, anything would I think!
Quite a few bargains today. You must have dozens of bird feeders now. I really like the heron.
Ten pieces today, what’s that, two or three hours πŸ˜‚

  2. It was a nice trip, and a bit of ‘almost normal’ walking! We will definitely be going again to the garden centre, veggie sausages to collect and more bargains to fine, we actually saw a few more things we thought we would probably get bother time. The food was good in the cafe too and served quickly.
The birds were really hungry today, perhaps people don’t go out to feed them so much when the weather is bad.
The tree is good size and very green, will repot it in the new year.
