More pottery painting

Yesterday evening I decided to have a go t painting the puffin from the pottery studio. It was quite awkward to see just where I should paint the details. Tried my best, and hope it will be okay.
I caught the bus up to Freeport and had a chat with Caroline and Rob and we decided that I would start painting a candlestick.  I painted a neutral colour and then a slightly darker colour on the rings.
I then marked out ivy freehand in a very feint colour to start with, so not easy to make out in the photo. It was very cold at the studio and that had taken a good while, so I have left it there to finish in the new year.
My plate had been fired and I am pleased with it.
I sent for a pack of mint coins with King Charles on, that is good but I really got them because the images on the other side are absolutely beautiful
After painting I had a snack in the cafe before catching the bus home. Went into the town for a while this afternoon, going to the banking hub and a couple of shops. I did another layer of glue on the puzzle and once it was dry I packed it way and will get a piece of ply cut to size in the new year and mount it on that.
Going to start getting organised for going away soon, as quite a lot of stuff to take and remember!

  1. I think the puffin will look good. You've put a lot of detail in it considering you didn't have much to go on. The candlestick will be good too as you always do a good job with the ivy. The plate shows exactly what I mean. I'm surprised you keep such a steady hand when its so cold!
I like the new coin set, and as you say the pictures on the back are great too. Very unusual.
Sounds like you've done a fair bit of walking again today. I hope you don't suffer for it later.
At least you only have to throw everything into the Rev's car, and not have to lag stuff around stations and taxis! That's bad enough usually without several cakes to transport as well!

  2. Yes, the plate has turned out well, and I do like painting ivy so will enjoy finishing the candlestick. It really is cold there and the owners have opened the other side of the unit and insisted the door was kept open! The sooner she gets a unit of her own the better.
    Will get organised tomorrow, maybe!
