I started digging out ground elder and couch grass and some large plants that were spreading. But the intruders were growing round and even through the plants I wanted to keep so reluctantly decided that they needed to be lifted to be replanted when the ground was ready. So I got trays and a bucket with water in to give them a drink while they were out of the ground! I did a bit over an hour and had a break as it was quite hard going, then did another hour or so before stopping for lunch. I had done a fair bit of digging and weeding by then and had a lot of plants ready to be replanted.
Out again after lunch and it was threatening to rain. In fact is was raining by the time I came in so I was a bit damp. I couldn’t trim the edges very well as the edgers need sharpening and they didn’t like the wet grass! Had worked for over an hour again so probably just as well that rain stopped play!
Came in and dried off and had a cuppa with Tina who came in soon after me. Then I went with her to the tip to get rid of some cardboard and paper. She drove back via the sea front so that we could say hello to the sea!
I started ironing the fat quarters before dinner ready for cutting into squares for the dungarees as the pattern arrived today.
I did start cutting the squares after dinner but my legs were not amused that ai had started a job where I was standing, so will carry on with that another day!
The gardening today definitely looks like a lot of work, in fact too much work! But I know you like to do a proper job when you get started on something. It made sense to dig out the plants and replant them once you’d sorted the bed, but lots of work. Sounds to me that the rain didn’t come soon enough to put paid to your days labour π I have to say it was worth the digging and replanting though as it looks really nice now it’s done……if only it would stay that way!
ReplyDeleteAt least you got a trip to the seafront. That’s always refreshing and cheering.
Not a bit surprised your legs complained about standing around cutting material, they’d had enough for the day. π
You should consider retiring from gardening and concentrating on all the other pastimes you have. Get a gardener! π
Quite an energetic day but at least you can see where I have been, for a while at least! Quite good that we had a little rain to help settle the moved plants in.
DeleteFeeling a bit weary now but not particularly achy.
Can’t wait to see these dungarees
