Congratulations Rebecca

Darren and I went out early as usual, it was busy but surprisingly cold at Skirlington and it even rained for a short while. I got a couple of courgette plants and a pansy and Darren got a pair of jeans. I have put the plants with the ones Tina bought yesterday.
Darren drove back via the sea, I took a photo out of the window!
I did go into the garden for a while. Grabbed the phone as there was a tint snail on a hydrangea leaf, a pretty small leaf too.
I haven’t started this job yet but have asked Darren to lift these large pavers for me as I need to dig out the ground elder!
The large ‘old man’s beard’ clematis that was near where Tina parks her car has died. It has been glorious and had completely covered the trellis. It is in the bed that was the fairy garden, which, like most things, had become very overgrown. I didn’t take a before photo but an after and the removed weeds and old man’s beard.

Today was Rebecca’s graduation day, she had sent links for the longer ceremony with all the speeches and for the shorter one for the diploma collection. I did have the longer one on while I was getting dinner and heard the keynote speaker, Billy Porter, quite an interesting character. Then this evening Tina managed to get the diploma ceremony onto the tv. Two pics, one taken by me and one by Tina.

I am very weary this evening, stayed up until the end of Eurovision and was up early to go out with Darren.
We may have a thunderstorm tonight. Certainly could do with the rain.

  1. Looks like you’ve got a planting session lined up there. It never ends! Do you still have the sausage bap on booting days? That should warm you up a bit.
That’s a great pic of the snail. The leaf is a lovely green too. Not bad for a phone camera.
Glad you’ve asked Darren to shift those slabs rather than struggle yourself! The actual gardening is hard enough without manual labour thrown in!
Shame the old man’s beard gave up on life. But I’m sure something else will take it’s place before long. That’s a fair collection of weeds you have there. Looks like you were out there more than a “while”. Had the fairy garden disappeared into the undergrowth?
Hard to believe it was Rebecca’s graduation day. I remember pushing her around Peterborough park in her pushchair when they all came over for a holiday. Doesn’t time fly?
Not surprised your weary. Hope you get a good night tonight.
We’ve had a fair bit of rain this evening, so hopefully it heads your way.

    1. Most of the fairy garden is now under the bay tree.
I have planted another clematis where the old one was. Our in plenty of water, but remembering to keep watering is the challenge.
