Finished icon!

This morning Judi collected me at 10am and drove us to Bridlington where Ian runs weekly icon classes in a church hall. We were made welcome and set to work. I had to finish the red on the halo and then do the lettering on it. Then had to get the under garments ready for gilding I also did some gilding on the book. Then some detail on the buildings and the red lettering. Thought I was done but then he said I should redefine the dark lines on the cloak! Then I was done!! It was a good day, we had taken packed lunches but Ian had made a very nice sponge with oodles of cream in it! I am very pleased with the result.
I tried phoning the hospital when I got home as I had tried a few times before we left. Phoned Rose to tell her I hadn’t managed to get through and she haven’t been able to either. Said I would keep trying.
I went into the garden for a little while, did some trimming near the new storage cupboard and then planted the last few plants I had waiting in a tray into the bed near the grass path. No photos so short on pics tonight.
Visited Sarah and David and heard about their holiday in Portugal.
Going to watch a program about Mother Teresa this evening.

  1. I think the icon is fantastic, I really do. It has so much detail in it and is so bright and colourful. So many new techniques you’ve had to learn to do it as well. You should be really proud of the end result. Definitely needs a nice box frame to protect it now from idle fingers and cats 😊
The calls to the hospital have been so hit and miss. I think it’s really sad that they can’t at least answer phone calls to stop relatives worrying about patients. The NHS isn’t what it used to be sadly.
Thought you’d manage to fit a bit of gardening into your day, but it was only a little bit, so not too bad. Tomorrow is another day though!
    Enjoy your program.
