Trip to Peterborough

On Monday Tina drove me down to Peterborough, time to deliver Christmas cakes and make pre Christmas visits. We got there at lunchtime and couldn’t book into the guest house until about 4 pm so we went to Van Hage and Garden Park for lunch. The usual great garden centre Christmas displays.

There were pretty good decorations outside as well.

We visited a couple of other stores and arrived at the guest house just before four. After a bit of confusion at the door we were checked in by the very lovely owner. We had a family room, so there was a double bed and a single.beautifully decorated and clean. The right hand upstairs window as you look at the photo.
We had time for a quick cuppa then went to collect Mike to go to Ibrahimis for tea. Gave him his cake as well. We had a very nice meal as usual and after dropping Mike home we went to Rachel’s to drop off her cake and two others that I would deliver with Rachel’s help on Tuesday.
Tina dropped me back at the guest house and she went off to make an evening visit.
I realised on the way down that I had forgotten my wrist splints! Not surprisingly I had a terrible night with very painful hands, so the mission on Tuesday was to buy more if I could.
Yesterday Tina was off to see her family for the day, and Rachel was picking me up so that we could spend some time together and then going to take me across to my sister with her cake and Anya’s. I had a bit of a walk before she arrived and there are some great derelict houses near the guest house, such a shame.

Not 100% sure that one was abandoned but it looked neglected. The one across the road definitely was.
I had a very good day, Rachel did take me straight to a chemist andI managed to get more splints, just over £40 this time, these dodgy wrists are costing me a fortune! Had a game of Scrabble with my sister and had a good natter, also had a chat with my niece. Anya called for me just after 4.30 pm and we went into town and had a meal at Wagamama, very tasty and great to have some proper time with Anya. Took some pics of the lights and Anya took one of me!

Tina sent me a picture of a Christmas display at Lynn garden centre, different animal musicians here!
We weren’t late to bed and I managed a much better night with the new splints
We drove home today, we did stop at Downtown and got a few bits, and had lunch at Cherry Lane before getting home earlier this afternoon.
The cats were pleased to see us after a good trip.

  1. I think all reindeer breed in garden centres, it’s the only place you see them! Humbug! Even I’ve seen the VH decorations. Didn’t go inside the globe as some people just have too 😊
Looks a very nice house you stayed at. Who got the big bed?
It was really nice to see you both and the meal at Ibrihimis was a delicious as always. I love that place. Was really pleased to get my cake too, and I’ve still not sliced it. It might make it to Christmas Eve this year, but we’ll see.
That is a lot of derelict houses so close together. It really is a shame when you imagine how nice they could be. So much better than the tricky tacky boxes they throw up these days!
I hope the se nod pair of splints were worth the money and helped you get a better night.
So, who one the scrabble this time? You are pretty evenly matched most of the time. Glad Anya took you to Wagamama. I really enjoyed it when I went. Not been back since though. Must try to remedy that.
I’ve not seen the Christmas lights in town yet. Although I was told they weren’t as good as normal. The ones in the pics look ok though. Maybe I’ll have to venture out in the dark and take a look myself 😊
Always nice to get home after a trip out, and nice to be welcomed home by happy cats. Maybe you can take it easy until Christmas now......or then again!

  2. It really was a lovely guest house, must go on Trip Advisor. The lady has been running it for sixteen years and has a lot of regulars.
Margherita’s won the Scrabble this time, one of her highest scores too.
The splints are just big enough and actually a left and right, the others are for either hand, so these are a little better I think.
Tina has the big bed, they were matching and very comfortable.
