Walking and garden for a change!

This morning as I set off for a walk quite early Tina came out and thought I should take a picture of the lovely fir tree we have in a pot by the front door. We had thought it was getting cones but it turned out it was new growth and the brown pieces fall away as they open. It is  a lovely pale colour and now has lots of growth.
I walked to the sea, very misty this morning, it has been overcast like this a lot lately, it wasn't cold though and the sea was fairly calm.
The tide was right in, I decided to go down and walk along the lower sea wall, almost got splashed and did get damp shoes!

Tina has told me there was a boot sale at the Inshore Rescue boat site so I walked there. I love this building of theirs, not where the boat is kept but it has a little shop and toilets and I think they keep some equipment there.
There were just three cars set up on the field and one of those just had eggs for sale. I had a drink there and then went to look at the sea again. There I saw some tractors, as you do!
The mist was beginning to lift but the skyline was still very muted.
I came upstairs for a drink when I got home and to get ready to do a bit in the garden. Charlie's latest preferred resting place in the daytime is now my window seat!
Tina thought I should make a photographic record of the developing agapanthus, They start with this sort of skin covering and then that falls away to show lots of buds that are now opening into bell shapes. We have never grown them before and it is very interesting seeing them blossom so to speak.

I hoed all the beds that we have prepared and planted and put in all the plants I still had waiting plus a lot of bulbs, a little late, but if they do grow it will be a bonus. Then I decided that the patio needed cleaning, that took a lot longer that I had imagined!
I planted out a different type of forget me not that I had had in a pot in the garden for months probably. It has been out about a week now and the new leaves are so big and beautiful, it obviously likes being in the ground.
The patio now looks a lot better, pity it won't stay that way!
We have had dinner and the bath is calling now!

  1. Yet another active day. Can’t say I blame you for taking a walk to the sea most mornings. Great start to the day and all those negative ions do you the world of good.its handy too if you like tractors :-) You took a chance walking along the lower sea wall. A little tiny swell and you’d have been up to your knees!
The car boot sounded a bit of a washout, bit like the one I went too that was closing as I arrived! Stopped my buying any junk though.
You certainly do have some nice healthy looking plants now. I’ll never remember the names of them. Can’t even distinguish tree varieties, so no chance!
The patio does look better. It’s such a big area, so is hard work. In fact it’s almost bigger than your last two gardens :-)

  2. It doesn't seem as far to the sea as it did when I moved in, but I was still not doing much walking at all then and still wondering if a mobility scooter was the way to go! I was improving but the fitbit has really focused me which can't be bad.
Felt quite sorry for the three car booters, only about three of us came to look while I was there, so a washout in every sense!
It did make me squeal when the water splashed up as I was on the lower walkway, but luckily not enough to really soak me or wash me in!!
I need a new head for my paving clearer tool, I am sure I had one but where it is could be another story!!
