Jean has a really lovely garden, she even opened it up for the 'open garden' scheme a couple of years ago. Took a few pictures and she gave me a sprig of honeysuckle which I will try and root for our garden. I love honeysuckle.
That orange one is the same as the ones in the churchyard and Jean said the popular name for them is 'fox and cubs'. I asked Jean to pick things for me to draw, very simple sketches, two I left with her and the one of the dangly thing I have to finish.
Two are sideways, I can straighten then on the laptop but haven't worked out how on here!
This evening I have done some planting and watered the garden, weather permitting I will start tidying up outside for when I am away.
A bit of admin work makes it sound very official :-)
ReplyDeleteA bit of a crafting is a good way to spend an afternoon, and it beats digging or pulling up weeds! I like all the pics you took in that ladies garden. Very colourful. I wonder how on earth those flowers got the name fox and cubs? Very odd how these names originate and get passed along.
I like your drawings, the first one in particular, but I’m not really sure why. I still find it amazing that anyone can sit down and draw like that. Not just one either, but several! I’d just be happy if I could do one, and be able to recognise what it was after I’d finished :-)
She has got a lovely garden, and I agree, a very odd name for the flowers.
DeleteIt was good to just sit and sketch for a bit although the pad was a bit on the small side!
Have you had any luck finding what the odd plant was round The corner.?
ReplyDeleteNo Rachel I haven't, forgot to look to be honest, but you have prompted me now! xx
