Here goes, some more about our day yesterday. One picture when Darren and Tina were in their finery at Kings Cross.
We went over to St Pancras and had a very enjoyable lunch, it is very smart there now. There was an amazing statue near the restaurant.
One more shot outside the palace before I headed off.
A couple of shots of the Victoria memorial statue.
Some wildlife in St James's park.
I have so many pictures from inside the war rooms, you could imagine how claustrophobic it must have been with so many people, smoke and body odour and no real hygiene. It was so well laid out and you had an audio guide if you wanted more details.
Will break after that one as Churchill had this boiler suit made in velvet especially so that when he relaxed he would be comfortable.
This was the actual No 10 door when Churchill became Prime Minister.
The first picture in that batch was Clementine's bedroom and the last one was Churchill's bedroom that he apparently only ever slept in three times!
I walked back passing the palace again and just made it into the Royal Mews as the last entrant of the day! Another fascinating place.
That beautifully carved wooden pony was there for children to be dressed up and able to sit on for photographs. The coronation coach was pretty impressive close up.
I made my way back to Kings Cross where we met up for the long journey home. A last couple of shots of the dinosaur and the roof!!
Some great pics from what looks like a really good day. Too many to comment on individually, but I have to say that the war rooms do look really interesting. Something I’d probably like to see myself.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great day!
Train to Kings Cross, just one trip on Victoria line to Victoria and walk up, or you could walk from Kings Cross. Best to get the ticket in advance, bit quicker getting in. There is the challenge for the day!! It was a good trip. always tiring somehow in London, but in a good way.
