Morning walk

I am not sure if I have walked up to Freeport quite early in the morning, and certainly not in sunlight, the shadows are different along the lane to the cemetery and along Polly's Path.

I was there before the shops opened, but luckily the cafe opens earlier, so had a cup of tea and a tea cake which was very nice. I had a wander down to the bed shop and waited for it to open, they do a good range of beds and can get most in 4ft size so will 'go local' when I get back from my trip. I took a photo of a great gazebo to show Tina as I think it will look well in the garden, especially when we host the strawberry tea.
I went in the bag shop and found a large handbag that will be great for my trip, but had only taken the coin purse out with me so planned to get back to buy one. I called in at the craft outlet, chatted with Abi for a bit and then Mags came in. She was so pleased to see me and went rushing out the back to get a bag of goodies for me. I say for me, but she had taken the pattern for the vests and hats for the 'fish and chip babies' and her mother and her friends had taken up the cause! How lovely of them, and there are more on the way.
She apologised for the lilac one, although it isn't a pale pastel, the lady that made it has bad eyesight and has trouble with dark wool but desperately wanted to made a set.
I walked home via the Trans Pennine Trail as I wanted to get into town to buy some longer canes. My knees and ankles were really aching today so although it isn't really that far I was pleased to reach my destination! I bet I looked funny carrying 8 ft canes home!
When Tina came in I told her about the gazebo. She had to go up to the cemetery this afternoon so we drove up there. I went and bought my bag while she was busy, it is a big handbag with lots of qipped compartments and space, it will be perfect for travelling.

I have watered outside this evening and put the new canes in place as the sunflowers were outgrowing the original canes.
Will finish off with the very unusual flower I have near the back door, the one I have been logging the progress of.

  1. Polly’s Path does look nice in that light. I like walking in tree lined paths like that. Not that many nearby me, apart from the park.
I like the gazebo. Perfect for an afternoon relaxing with tea and a book in the summer sun. We should get a few more of those before winter sets in!
Blimey, that lilac is a bit bright. Looking on the bright side, pardon the pun, it’ll still keep them warm and they won’t forget where they put the baby down :-)
Sounds like the perfect day to me. Lots of shopping and only a tiny bit of gardening. You need more days like that. Specially the bit about starting off with tea and cake :-)

  2. Ended up being a varied day and pleased with my purchases. I think Abi has another recruit for the baby vests so have printed off a pattern for her this evening
