Potted write up, more to follow

We all left home just after seven this morning to start out long and exciting day. Darren drove us to Hull and then we got the train to London. Tina, not a natural early riser had a snooze on the train!
Darren and Tina got changed, don't ask where, and left the bag with spare clothes and my memory foam cushion in the left luggage. We had some lunch and then, to my delight, caught a PINK taxi to Buckingham Palace (Tina has a real aversion to pink!!)
They were there pretty early and the queue to get in was already big. I couldn't go in but did manage a photo in front of the gates.
I walked down Birdcage Walk via a bit of St James's park and these gorgeous pelicans.
I had a great visit to the Churchill War Rooms, will just show the entrance and put a selection of interesting photos next time.
After that I walked back up past Buckingham Palace and got into the Royal Mews with about a minute before last entry time! Will just post the Diamond Jubilee carriage now and more next time.
We met up back at Kings Cross, Darren and Tina had a good time and loved the palace gardens. Charles and Camilla were the royal hosts today. The train journey home is nearly three hours and then Tina drove us home to Hornsea. It has been a long but good day.

  1. A very early start for you all, but worth it none the less. Can’t say as I blame Tina for having a snooze.
    Getting changed....toilet, store cupboard, someone’s office :-)
They look very smart, and happy outside the palace. A great honour to get invited. A day to remember definitely.
Sounds like you enjoyed your time in London too. I look forward to seeing some pics later.

  2. It was a long day but we did all enjoy it.Darren and Tina really enjoyed their day, didn't speak to Charles and Camilla, there were thousands at the party so not that surprising. They loved the walk round the grounds and said the food was good.
