Great trip on The Pride of the Hudson

I went for an earlier walk today as wanted to be back in time to wish Rebecca a happy birthday before she went off to her gym classes. I walked as far as the lake again and went along th wooded path to reach it.
When the family had all done their exercise for the morning (a very fitness orientated bunch) we set off to Newburgh to go for a trip on The Pride of the Hudson.

Starting out seeing the mountains and the other river traffic.
We went by an island and this building was on there.
Mark enjoying the trip.
West Point, which brought back memories as Lee and Patty go married there.

We went between these two mountains which looked so dramatic.
This large boat had an interesting life boat at the back.

A nice picture of me with the grandchildren.
Just a couple more views.

We spotted a freight train going along the rails at the base of the mountain. I have never seen anything like it, Lee counted and it had 150 carriages!

It was actually very cold on the boat, a bit of a change from when I arrived, but it didn’t really spoil the experience.
The rest of the day has been taken up with shopping trips to get prepared for Rebecca’s party tomorrow.

  1. What a great little trip that was. You managed to see a lot of stuff while on the boat. Slightly better than a trip on a riverboat down the Thames!
Perfect little trip for the photographer, and you ended up with some great pics. Shame it wasn’t a bit warmer, but it still looked fun.
Have fun at the birthday party.

  2. It was a great trip, not just for the views but the different river craft and that amazing freight train! Keep getting the song ‘freight train’ on the brain now, can’t remember who sung it, maybe Mickey and Griff, will have to check!
