Bus trip to Bridlington

I caught the bus just after 9.30 am this morning, planning to catch the 1.45 pm bus back to Hornsea, there isn't a lot of choice! I went upstairs on the way there as I knew I was getting off at the end of the route so didn't have to worry too much about coming down the stairs in a hurry. This field looks as if it is cut to become hay for animal feed later.
It is not a long way to Bridlington but the journey is an hour as the bus goes down lanes to three different holiday sites that are on the coast. The is the view from Barmston.
Once in Bridlington I spotted this estate agents and just liked the names!
I walked down to the harbour first.

Then went to The Spa where there was a craft fair, I enjoyed looking round and there was some good stuff on show and I also got some ideas for the pyrography if I ever get the machine out again! Took the picture of the birds on the beach and the striking wind turbines when I started back to the town centre.

This old fountain has been filled with earth and is obviously going to be used for flowers, seems like a good idea rather that leave it to be filled with rubbish!
A picture looking out to sea, quite near where I had a pensioners fish and chips with cup of tea.
I went back to the bus station and a few other people and myself waited and waited for the 1.45 pm bus. We eventually found out that it doesn't actually start running until July and the next, and last bus wasn't until 5.15 pm! By then it was drizzling and now there was time to fill.
I went down to the sea again and watched the pirate ship go by.
Played a few 2p machines and looked but didn't go on anything at the fair.
The view from the other direction.
I make no apologies for the number of gull pictures, I just love the herring gulls although I realise I am in a minority group!

Another drink and then made my way back to the bus station. This hotel door was nearby and very attractive I thought.
The bus was on time and quiet. The other families that had been waiting earlier didn't get on it so I imagine they clubbed together and got a taxi back to the holiday site. Got home a bit tired but glad I went. Had a cuppa with Tina and we caught up after her time away. Not doing much except getting me feet up this evening.

  1. Well what started out a little trip out turned into an epic! It did give you longer for some photo opportunities though, and you have some good one tonight. The estate agents actually made me chuckle out loud when I saw it, which always seems odd when you’re alone! Really like the last gull pic too. It’s a really good composition. It looks just like the sort of thing someone would set up with a stuffed gull :-) The pic of the hotel door is great too. I love all the colour in it and lots of stuff going on.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it though. Next time, re-check the bus times before you go! Good job you’re better with trains and aeroplanes :-)

  2. Yes, not quite how I planned it but nothing to do but make the bast of it really, It was a good day in the end.
The people near me were throwing chops for the gulls, a bit naughty but it was entertaining!
Really silly to miss the little star over that bus on the timetable!!
