Soon to be greenhouse!

Tina started her new role in earnest today, taking morning prayers and a mid week communion service. The curtain lady was coming with samples for the huge windows in the dining room, she arrived quite early. Tina was happy to leave the choice to me, no pressure then! One particular pattern caught my eye almost straight away, and after several more possibles and a lot of discussion we both thought the one I had originally liked was the best choice. After she left I went to the butchers and greengrocers as I had decided to do some ready meals for the freezer for Darren and Tina as they are both very busy at the moment. This morning I made two cottage pies, plated up two portions for Darren and Tina tonight and have frozen six portions. This evening when I was getting my dinner I made a sausage and mushroom pasta bake which will make four more meals.
Tina came home with Chris, one of the Scarborough congregation who I know quite well, she had travelled over on the buses yesterday and stayed in a B & B last night. She came to have a quick look round the vicarage before catching her first bus on the journey home.
Tina and I had a bit of lunch and I came upstairs for a bit. Was half dozing in the chair when my phone woke me. The man who was delivering the greenhouse tomorrow asked if he could deliver it today. The email had said the drop off was classed as 'kerb side'. I mentioned this to him and he said that he would try to get it where I wanted it. He was absolutely lovely, took the base and frame right through to the area it will be erected, gave me some smaller packages to keep inside, and the got the crate with the glass as close as he could manage. Also gave me lots of instructions and advice, I gave him a Christmas box, he was surprised but pleased!

Tina got in touch with Dave for me who phoned a bit later and said he will come and erect it on Saturday, so that is exciting.
Earlier in the day I remembered two bird ornaments Anya had given me a couple of years ago and thought they would look good on my mantelpiece, managed to locate them and I am pleased I did!
Tina and I had made a shopping list yesterday so we went to Tesco to try and look like we are a little ready for Christmas! I got some reduced flowers, removed the dead ones in the jug and changed the water and now it is beautiful again.
I have been looking through the last box I had to open, at least, I think it is, as I am trying to locate a particular picture that I know I will have packed safely. It wasn't there but so many sketchbooks and paints, way too many!

  1. Another busy day today. Not that I’m a bit surprised really, as I’m sure you’d get completely bored out of your head sitting doing nothing! You really are making good use of the new kitchen. You’ll need another new cooker before long as you’ll wear that one out. Hope you still have the enthusiasm next year when it’s cake time again :-)
I’m so pleased you got the greenhouse delivered and put as close to where it’s going as possible. I had visions of you dragging it all round the back by yourself. And don’t Denise it, as I know you would have done. Erected by Christmas too, that’ll be good. Everything is falling into place now.
Your rooms look must feel really homely now and lived in. You’ve got some great furniture and ornaments. The mantle set up looks nice with that clock and those birds. It’s going to be a nice cosy Christmas.

  2. Yes, really is coming together, and tonight, after perseverance and chaos I have found the picture I was looking for!
Excited about the green house, I hope he gets on with it okay on Saturday.
I am sure I will feel inclined for cake making again next year, it is a long standing tradition now.

  3. You’ll have to bake a cake for Saturday and make sure you give him a slice with a cuppa. It’ll encourage him to do a good job :-)
