Bye bye peacock!

Another reasonably busy day today. I caught the bus to Hornsea Freeport, I had planned to try a craft course but in the end decided against it. Had a good look round the Poundstretchers and a couple of other outlets and then made my way back to the bus stop. This pine tree was there, not sure if it had been pruned that shape or it had just happened.
It was just the trunk below that. When I got home I took a picture of the tubs in the daylight as it was dusk by the time I had planted them up yesterday.
I have a can of 'Wood Silk', a non silicone furniture polish containing beeswax. I thought I would try spraying the cello, will still beeswax it in time, but the spray has made quite a dramatic difference. Tina has a bench she would like me to treat the same way now.
I cut the large tubes in half that the vinyl had been wrapped round and Tina and I got the car loaded up again. She took it to the tip herself as there wasn't room in the car for me, I got lunch ready for when she got back. Then we moved a wardrobe into the guest room and gave it a bit of a clean and assembled the double bed in there. Meanwhile the men turned up to fit the new flooring in the hallway. Looking very impressive now. Hopefully the rest of the flooring still to be done will be finished next Wednesday.
Tina collected the peacock I had painted some time ago at the studio when she was in Scarborough. It is promised to Rachel and I will be seeing her before Christmas, so took a couple of pictures as a reminder. This was a piece that I was pleased with the result, but did not enjoy the actual painting!

When the men had finished Tina and I went off to do a fairly big grocery shop, so as I said, a fairly busy day again. We are off to an event in the church hall this evening which should be very enjoyable.

  1. Yet another busy day for you. You’ll be totally worn out by Christmas! You definitely need a few days break from it all.
The cello looks gorgeous. You’ll have to email me a picture of the can and let me know where you got it. I’d like to try it on some bits of hardwood. It’ll look even better once it’s fully polished, and will make a great bit of furniture. A good buy and well spotted.
The hallway looks very nice, and well finished with the silicone around the edges. It looks very similar to what I have in my hallway. You’ll have to get some suitable ornaments to put on the shelves above the doorways now. Talking of ornaments, Rachel will be very pleased with the peacock. It’s a lovely piece.
Hope you had a good evening out.

  2. The evening was very entertaining with a great music group. Tina and I both won prizes in the raffle too! I will take a picture of the polish, I think I bought it in Sainsbury's. The hallway does look good, going to be the same floor covering in the kitchen, utility and downstairs loo.
The peacock did turn out well, but was tricky to paint.
