Gardening and induction service.

The front garden is really not in good shape, it is muddy and gets waterlogged and the lawn has spread into the driveway. I thought I would get out and start getting the lawn back to it's original starting point. Helped load the car up again first, but as we were both expecting parcels to be delivered I got on with the garden. Asked Tina to get a bit of gravel and some paving slabs to go down in the walled garden. This was when I had started one side and what the other side looked like.

Looking better but didn't get as far as I had hoped as it was hard work. Tina did help finish off the second side when she got home.

Then we put the three bags of gravel down to try and make the distinctions of the driveway.
We even put a few lights out and by this evening they had seen enough sun to light up!
I took our Christmas order over to the greengrocers and then went to the shop for some bits. Tina and I had a bit of lunch and then I decided to go out and tidy up the dumping ground that is the walled garden. Tina had put the slabs down for me where we had taken up the huge ones that weren't level. Couldn't move them out of the way as they are really heavy.
A bit tidier now and I moved some of the trees over to the wall.

Had a bath this afternoon and got overheated, but managed to cool down before we had guests arriving for the service. Visiting clergy put on their robes in the dining room. I made drinks and showed people where to change etc. Then everyone made their way to the church. A few pictures, some of the congregation.
A couple of the formal part, which I felt a little awkward taking.

Darren and Tina being welcomed.
And talking to everyone as they left.

A lovely service and refreshments were laid on afterwards. Tina begins her ministry tomorrow.

  1. Limey, that lawn looks so much better trimmed back like that. It also looks like it was very hard work! You’ll sleep well tonight, I hope. I do like the little walled garden too. The colour of the bricks, and the rendering on the other part just make it look old and nice. Some people would probably paint it or do something to even it out, but that would be sacrilege! It’ll look even better in the spring and summer with some colour and some sunshine. Perfect for afternoon tea.......with the vicar even :-) Talking of which, it was a very good turnout. Glad you took pictures as it’s such a special event. I can imagine how you felt though, I’d have felt the same. It doesn’t seem right to take pics in that situation. She looks very happy, and deservedly so after all the studying and work she’s put into it all. She’ll be a great vicar, and very popular with her flock :-) Darren scrubs up well too. He looks very smart.
If you’re reading this Tina, then I’m so pleased for you. Sock it to them tomorrow :-)

  2. Another fairly busy day, one of these days I will report that I have done absolutely nothing! It has made a big difference, will get right round it eventually.
The service was very good, the rural dean and bishop, both ladies, are lovely and the planning all went very smoothly.
