Bright sunny day but the wind was bitterly cold when out, the forecast rain didn't arrive though. Tina was in church early so I prepared veg and got organised for dinner this evening. Then the three of us took a trip to Hornsea Freeport, Tina and I had noticed that the craft outlet had 'buy one get one half price on everything'. We got a few bits at the Pound Stretcher, Christmas stuff was half price so I got two card hangers for next year. This year I have ribbons hanging from the top of the cupboard door in the sitting room and have the cards pegged onto them. I didn't want to start making more holes in the wall, I have made enough to hang pictures and shelves!
I got a few bits to use when I get the pyrography machine out again.
The middles of the round ones push out so that you can make two decorations from each one. I got the calligraphy book that I had spotted when Tina and I went there a while ago.
I have had lots of calligraphy books and instructions in my time, but this one has some really great ideas and different things to anything I have seen before. Then as the offer was on I got some 'silk clay', it sticks to pretty much anything and then air dries, so hopefully I will make time to start experimenting soon.
At the shop where I got the planter and spider garden ornament last week I bought a metal stake with a bar with two birds on that rock like a sea-saw in the breeze.
I had some nice presents this year, but the star one must be the jewellery set from Donna. At first I thought she had found them in a shop but then I realised that she had made them for me as there is a J around the hole on the necklace. The lady in the garden shop was enthusing about them today.
They are very light, so can't even feel I am wearing them. I also got two lovely little gifts from the Christmas tree!
Got dinner for this evening again and have now cooked the turkey in readiness for Anya and family joining us for 'second Christmas' tomorrow.
You’ll be th3 best customer at Freeport soon with the amount of stuff you’ve bought. It’ll be red carpet treatment when they see you coming :-) You’ve got some great bits again though. I really like the rocking birds for the garden. That’s very unusual, and I don’t think I’ve seen one before.
ReplyDeleteThe earrings and necklace are lovely, and so well made. It was a really nice thought for her to make them specially for you. I foresee you wearing them a fair bit.
I bet Anya, Louis and Isobel are really looking forward to seeing you all, and to see the vicarage for the first time. Merry second Christmas :-)
So many things that are unusual for a large garden, will try and keep buying them in check though!
ReplyDeleteThe jewellery set will see a good bit of use I think
Looking forward to having the family nearby and Darren has the week of which is good.
