Last night I started wrapping parcels for Christmas, bags, paper and boxes everywhere, the more I got packed the more chaos followed! This morning I carried on with the wrapping and got a bit of order back into the room. I went for a walk along the town as I had a few things to get and some letters to post. I got jiffy bags as I have four packages to send off. Tina will take me to the post office in Skipsea tomorrow as the one in town is closed. Tina and I had a bit of lunch and then we set about getting the net we bought yesterday cut and up at the windows. Neither of us are fans of nets but the windows are very large and we are very exposed to the main road. We managed to get nets up at the dining room, two bedrooms, the office and the landing windows. Just halfway and not gathered, just a bit of a screen, they look pretty good.
A panel has been removed from the porch for a new piece of glass to be fitted. We have no number on the house and today the council man couldn't find us to deliver our replacement bin. So Tina suggested the I paint something on the board. It has been raining and although it was dry when I went out there I was under a constant drip from the overhang! Tina has popped out and said she could see the number from the road when she returned.
She bought me some flowers from the florist, they are fully open lilies. The flowers Anya has sent to me were just about dead so I have arranged the new ones in the jug. The smell of the lilies in here is very strong.
I had thought I would ice the cakes with royal icing, but one was enough, I had some ready to roll icing so did one more cake with that. Getting to panic stations now, have two more to do before Friday so will go to the shop for supplies in the morning.
In the bedroom I have an African corner now, some of the pictures haven't been on the wall for a while. Going to the orphanage was something I am proud of, so I am really pleased to have grouped some of the pictures and mementos together.
The kitchen flooring was supposed to be laid today but it still hasn't arrived. We have already cleared the area three times, getting a little frustrating now!
You’ve got lots done today again. Puts me to shame! The nets do look good being only half way. A little more privacy is nice.
ReplyDeleteI love the temporary wooden panel :-) You’ll have to make another house sign when they replace the leaded unit. You’re very handy to know.
And you had time for cake icing and picture hanging. You certainly like to keep busy :-)
However many jobs we get done there still seem to be as many waiting to get sorted! But we will get there eventually.
DeleteI told Tina I would like to paint the permanent sign to put out the front.
I will be glad when the cakes are done, it has proved a bit of a chore this time, it will be different next year!
