Buying bits in Hull

Another fairly busy day. Tina was busy yesterday and the hallway was full of boxes, too many for her little car really, so I managed to break down some of the banana boxes and we crammed her car to the roof for a skip run. We were there before it opened so went to the front and had a cuppa, then back to the tip. and then off to Hull. Tina had glasses to collect and we had a list of items we couldn't get locally like nets, foam to make cushions, guest towels, towel rail to mention a few. We went to The Range first, got a lot there and had some lunch. then Dunelm where we got the foam and bedding for the guest room. Then off to Halfords where Tina got Darren a new scraper and she got desperately needed windscreen wash. It had been icy when we left and the roads were very mucky. After that to Newland Avenue for Tina to get her new glasses and have the others sent away as the coating is wearing off. We passed this decorated tree with a nativity, which was unusual, it had pom poms like show balls in the branches as well.

Tea and cake and then back to Hornsea. I did make a few more decorations for the cakes and actually finished Mike's, only a little bit of icing and you can bin it if you want!
I have been thinking it would be good to have a vegetable rack, but we are not sure of the layout of the kitchen until the floor is laid and the table in place. In Dunelm I spotted this contraption which is really for washing veg in over the sink, but I though it would be great for my few veg and will sit on the butchers block we have coming and be out of the way. It is on a new cake container, I do manage to lose a few, well, they just don't come home! Will make this one for Darren's cake as he likes red.....

Tina gave me her collection of classical music cd's yesterday so I have tried three already, I am not very knowledgeable about classical music so can start getting a bit more cultured!

  1. A nice trip out and the chance to buy stuff is always good. The veg strainer looks good, very useful if you’ve got lots of veg to wash. But it will be good for storage too.
I like the decorated tree. More and more are appearing in the park here, and no one seems to vandalise them, which surprises me really.
Love the cake :-) Looking forward to getting it, but I won’t start it until Christmas Eve at the earliest. I’ll just look at it until then :-)

  2. It was a tiring trip, I think shopping is, but enjoyable when you get what you went for!
We particularly liked the tree, this one was felt, not knitted but the nativity scene was unusual.
Glad you approve of the cake, just eight more to sort out now!
